And yes, Col. Bix, you have rightly captured the cause of that worrisome part of this labor. Here is how my mind's eye sees this beast under paint.
But, to arrive at that vision, and not having the temerity myself to achieve this lofty end through my own hand, the ugly duckling will sent to a friend in Germany where, through his good graces, the outcome is much more predictable.
