Well, John, you might want to hide the T-72 and T-90. The other day I got a call from Mr. Putin offering to buy my tanks. It seems that they are needed. :haha:

What we all need to remember is that "we" are hobbyists and not politicians. Politics doesn't have a place in my tank hobby. If I want to build a Russian tank...I will. If I want to build a German tank...I will. People keep bringing up this whole Russian thing on FB and forums, but Putin doesn't have a thing to do with my tanks. I'm sorry, but if someone gets offended because of something I do...that's on them because I didn't do what I did to please or offend them. I do what I do to please me. They didn't buy me that tank or build it for me. To be frank and some might say heartless, I don't care what other think of my tanks. It's nice to get some praise for the work I do, but it's not required as long as I like the work I did. I share my work with others and participate so that I can improve my work and maybe help others improve theirs. I don't subscribe to any one ideology just because I build a tank from a specific country. If someone "decides" on their own that they "think" I subscribe to that ideology, I couldn't care less about that person or their "opinion" as they haven't taken the time to actually get to know me. From a historical standpoint, never forget the bad things that happened or we will be destined to repeat them.

Whether it's a hammer/sickle, a swastika, or even a white star...all militaries of the world have done bad things during wars. It's kinda why it's called "war" and not "knitting class". And to answer the earlier question, the US has not officially declared war on a country since WW2. Vietnam was a "police action" and most of the other conflicts since have been called "operations".

Sorry, just had to rant for a minute. No responses needed as that wasn't meant to spark an argument or even a discussion about this topic.

Tankme this is quite true and forgive me for being blunt on this and I sort of answer my own question in the process though not intended to offend it may do so.

In my mind we are all recreating model I won’t say replica but interpretations of tanks from the past and present not because of any political agenda but because it’s a hobby and we feel that what ever tank we are working on would suit our collection wether it be a tiger or a t72, a Sherman or a chieftain it doesn’t matter. The same goes for any diorama, it tends to be built to suit the era of the tank sat on it so if it’s a German setting with a tiger it’s a bit of a no brainer on what flag may be displayed

There are many members here that are ex military and I use this as an example and not to course offence but some of whom may have served in the golf wars and I don’t see any of those guys saying we must not buy a t72 because they were deployed in Iraq and let’s be honest here if anyone has the right to grumble about a tank we chose its those here that have been engaged by one on the front line.

That being said though this may be the case for some they have the respect to say that’s a nice model but it’s not for me.

So I think for me and the upcoming events the solution is simple, my display is of WWII tanks this will include Russian German American and British tanks from the conflict, if there is a faction you don’t like on display don’t look at it, just look at the ones you like.

So I think as an answer to the thread hosts question I will slightly alter my signature here and say it’s your tank/display stand or diorama, you make it how it best suits your display

Apologies for joining the rant, I will pipe down now

I would agree...back to tanking. Build it and display it how you like it. Well......certain displays will get you arrested in public places...stay away from those. :haha:

Lets not over think this.......................

Plastic model tanks.

Anyone here or in the public arena has a problem with what they see, they can be straightened out at that time, in that place, by that person involved.
Mean time, build them how you like them, show them or dont, but dont pick a political side or make anything big out of nothing........
Plastic model tanks.
Remember that.
Lets leave the crass bullshit to them that are good at it & leave it out of here...................

Here’s a little useless information that will aid 761st crooked cross issue. That cross doesn’t originate from the party, it is actually an ancient religious symbol found I believe in an Aztec or Mayan temple whilst searching for the ancestors of the German race and was adopted by hitler ( when I say adopted I mean stole) as the symbol for the party based on the beliefs of its leader

This is a fact I stumbled across whilst watching a documentary which had supporting photographic evidence of the cross carved into some sort of worship stone in such temple, but it escapes my mind which ancient race it was

I do want to thank what I am coming to realize is a group of intelligent men. Yes our world has seen too much and will most likely see more. In the course of living and learning, my take away is this. We are the and that generation that has experienced and dealt with much of what the world only sees through media. By default, WE are the ones that will be the ambassadors through this great and fun hobby.

Now back to our regularly sponsored show! Thanks guys!

Next project: Panzer IV. Ground up and NEVER done before. Soldering is a first!!

I think you'll find it's Eurasian in origin, dating back at least 5000 years BCE/BC.
Although, that's not to say the Aztecs didn't use their own version, as there has been many versions over many different cultures, even in use today.

Good morning,
As a kid, watching an episode of Kolchak, The Night Stalker, I noted backwards swastikas being used as wards against a Hindu mythology based creature. Peaked my curiosity and sent me to the Library the next day to get the skinny on the symbols origins. Let knowledge reign. No other or better way to push back the darkness of ignorance.
regards,
