You're right about the book. But I don't always believe what museums show, especially when there are many original pictures out there that can tell a different story ;)

My tank crew added a Panzer IV convoy light before they headed to Leningrad. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
On a more serious note, perhaps Alan Hamby was referring to the cylinder type of light as opposed to the Panzer IV version. I could be wrong but I’ve seen several photos of very early initial production Tigers with the early rectangular convoy lights. I usually take internet info with a tiny grain of salt.
