This is not a 105mm gun on the pic, this is a low bustle turret with the classic 75mm.
Not sure about the arrow pointing a "105mm travel lock", but the gun is 75mm for sure.

The first photo looks to be low bustle 75mm
The second is a 75mm but is not low bustle

When I installed this Applique Armor on the model tank, I didn't know that when the later model of the actual tank (High Bustle Turret) was changed to Wet Stwage, Applique Armor became unnecessary and could no longer be installed. As a result, I got carried away and ended up doing something unnecessary. While I'm not sure if I need to be so particular about it with a model tank at the moment, I also want to remove this Applique Armor at some point in the future.

Unless you are modeling a specific Sherman, you might not need worry about the combination of the High Bustle turret and the welded-on applique armor. There were so many variations, field modifications, rebuilds that the combination is at the least possible. There are a few threads in the Reference forum about Shermans: viewforum.php?f=74 There are also books upon books and web page upon web page of Sherman information and photos.

Yes when it comes to Sherman, we always find a specific model that has not the "standard" config. I like to think that almost everything is or could have been possible when it comes to Shermans !

Fabulous work! With so many battlefield repaired Shermans, it is hard to mess up a tank and end up with one that was not actually on the field. Turrets, drive units, bogies or road wheels (and even some weird cannons - Brits) got swapped in the war.
