Minor progress today. Superficial cosmetics really.
I extracted the .350 CAL BMG scale !!( :lolno: ) mcahine gun from the radiomans MG position & filled the hole with putty. I have a nice Aber MG34 mit Panzermantle to go in its place.
Im not fussed on having an LED flash, rather the right look of the MG when its not firing so no biggy to cut the wires & tear it out.
The bolted armour which came with it is on & looks good, and distressed the guards a bit to reflect the picture Im working off.
The antenna bump guard was also removed, for no other reason other than I just hated the look of it,.
I did remove the left rear mudguard completely as it has a hole in it for a Taigen part & I dont have that, so off it comes.
Added an exhaust tube to the turret rotation engine muffler on the back plate, facing up, as its a late G not an early one evolved from an F2
Hollowed out the main exhaust outlet to look better & thinner and cleaned up the seam joint a bit.
Having a set of later drive sprockets, I decided to swap out the eraly ones for the later ones, but BOOM ! they dont fit.
The damn output shafts of the Taigen gearboxes are BIGGER diameter that everything else in the world :headbang:
I feel this was a message from the Tank Gods as the picture shows the earlier flat spoked sprockets. But I just dont like them :problem:

Not being a Pziv fan in the truest sense, this one is a long bow to draw for me, so if I have a go at this one & still cant fall in love, I will never do another one...............

A great build and considering your not a great lover of the Panzer 4 thats even more to your credit, By the way the hole in the left rear fender is for a fitting that most people forget---Its a Reflector, as to the aerial deflector there were 2 types both ugly and yours was the smaller of the 2, no great loss in the r/c world although the radio operator in the real world might have offered you violence :haha:
I do wonder why the radio operators mg in both the Tiger and Pz 4 have the infantry barrel and not the smooth armoured type, this a fault in the Taigen and Heng Long,
Makes my blood boil :{ still Aber make extra cash from it so someone wins. :lolno:
I have really enjoyed this build thank you for such a nice job.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Thanks Mr Jarndice, a PzIV fan I am not, but after years of waiting, I do intend to get this as close to a "My Tank" as I can.
The L48 barrel arrived today from Tank Modellblau DE and its magnificent. Came with a flash cable!
Downside is that the muzzle brake is a one piece integrated with the barrel in one machined showcase, and its a late-full-round version :problem:
I would have needed at least a flat topped brake to sneak in as a G/ H hybrid, but no.
She's right, I have a beautiful metal barrel for something else!

I love these Joe Lunchbucket workaday tanks that were each armies' backbones. So much surface detail and intricate corners and crevices to explore, schurzen to bend and lose, and gear to stow.
You know you'll be adopting this one permanently, right Mr. Bix?

Mike.

Love this stuff. More than one relation crewed these things for the Honved during the war. I wish I’d been able to pepper them with questions.

Good to see it back in your hands, Herman. While I'm even less of a Panzer IV fan than you are, I think that if anyone could make me like one, it's you! The Schurzen will bulk out the silhouette and help fix the Panzer IV's aesthetic-nightmare proportions. Any chance of some Ostketten to help with that, too?
