Carl, Alwyn, Thank you for the kind words. I now feel suitably emboldened to attack the other locker.
The radios from Shapeways are due for delivery today. I will post pictures.

Well, the Shape ways package has arrived. It comprises a lot more parts than I imagined, quite a few of them very small. I shall have to study the original picture very carefully before I even try to put them together. Pictures will be a bit delayed.

First of all, here are the two ammunition lockers, loaded up, and, at least for the moment, completed.

Now for the radios.

It's a it tricky getting photos as everything is transparent, but hopefully you can see enough. So far as I can tell, the top row represents the power supplies and the second row, three receiver/transmitters. I was slightly taken back by the latter. They are hollow and have no tops to them as you can see here.

These are, I think, junction boxes, plus one switch gear unit.

and the last is a sprue with cable conduit fittings.

My knowledge of German radios would fit on a pin head, so I am open to corrections. According to the Shapeways page, what I have purchased is one FU-2 and one FU-5 radio. It would help if anyone could tell me which bits go with which. Also, I have had a look on Google for pictures of an FU-5 radio installed. However, they seem to show what is used inside a tank, where 2 receivers sit side by side. Obviously, there is not enough room in the Nashorn. My assumption is they will will be one above the other, with a power supply underneath and switch gear, but which power supply do use?

I would also be interested in people's take on the best way to put a top on the hollow bits. I did think of just filling them with body putty.

Hi Richard, I would suggest using pieces of .5mm styrene sheet for the top/bottom, it's easy to cut using a skills knife and sticks with normal styrene glue. As to the raios I have no idea, I'll leave that to them as have the knowing :)

The ammo cabinets look stunning - well done!

Your work looks good to me mate.
The ammo lockers seem just right for worn paint.
It really all depends on the time in service your machine is representing...............short time-little wear, conversely longer in service- more wear but equally a lot more spot maintenance.
I would assume ammo locker maintenance would not attract a lot of priority in the over all picture of a tank destroyer such as this

In the absence of any evidence, I guess I'm going to have to devise my own radio set up. At least, no one should be able to criticise. I think this is ging to tax my ingenuity and ability with little bits of brass. Oh to have just a little of the ability of BarryC. :D
