Hi - thanks for the kind words. I'll put together some notes as to how I built it. In essence it uses a 3mm led and the headlight lense is some clear packaging which I heated with a heat gun and then when it was hot enough I pulled it over a mould I had made for the headlight shape from the head of a screw filed to shape. I then cut the resultant shape out and press fitted it the the heng long head light.

When you have time can you show us some more pictures of the turret details and the mantlet you built? I'm very interested and like how this is coming out

The milliput has been fun to work with - I would have struggled to do it any other way. Here's a close up - still have 6 bolt heads to do on the mantlet

Reshaping them need a good set of eyes. Because if you curve it wrong, it turns ugly hhaha. Happened to me before

Great work wyvern, I like where you're going with this. You've done well adapting the Heng Long offering into a unique and interesting build.

Where'd you get the mesh for the engine grilles? I bought the metal engine deck covers from rctank.de thinking they'd come with something decent but it looks like it's just nylon flyscreen! I'd prefer something a little more to scale.

Hi Raminator - I saw that product on rctank.de and to be honest I thought it was a bit rubbish. My first attempt at the grilles used nylon mesh like that but it is horrible to glue and doesn't hold its shape. So I ripped them off and used a woven brass mesh from ebay;

I built the curved frame underneath from plasticard and glued it with superglue. I was really fiddly, but I am glad I did it!

Alternatively if you are feeling a bit like treating yourself, Aber now do a complete detail up set including headlight;

For what it’s worth Mr Ram. Bunnings have rolls of brass mesh that fit the scale quite well.
I do have some. I will send you some once I launch the SD card if you like.
The same stuff I used on my T34 bedspring armour.
