Excellent news Mr Painless will be following along with this build. Can't wait to see all of your tricks and treats you add to it it's quite a nice looking tank to start with and the quality is there too.

Great to see you are underway with this build Mr Painless!
As you know I'm running the TK22 on the M36 too but I'm considering upgrading it to a TK24. The TK24 does have improved V2 (fuzzy logic simulation? ) sound sets (same as the TK60 I believe) and has the addition of a neutral gear and second MG. According to Clark's website there is an 'upgrade program' whereby the TK22 can be upgraded to a TK24, and this can be upgraded to a TK60 (I'm assuming in the latter case just the firmware as the TK60 board itself is quite different).
I think you have to send the your board to Clark direct but how you go about this is not too clear on his website. The other thing is I'm not sure there is a V2 TK24/60 sound set available for the M4 (and consequently our TDs). Perhaps someone (Max?) can fill in the blanks here?

Carl, your enthusiasm is always welcomed! I'll do my best on this TD ( and not only because it's worth a mint ) Doc, thank you for looking in. I think that the neutral gear and rev ability would be cool to have. The sound set that Clark put in the TK-22 is not bad at all. I heard it on WWs video of his M36B1 running at the Tank meet. You would have to be able to add the motor rev sound tho' so that would be a file that maybe Max has. I am seriously considering the TK-24 if it will work with the existing radio from MATO. This TK-22 could go in another build coming up or as Max noted, be used in exchange for the TK-24

At 5:00 the work day was done and I dropped into Tank mode. Tonight I spent some time cleaning up the lower hull and addressing loose wiring in the upper. Speakers were removed and I'm still considering where I want those to go. I did get the electronics bed installed with velcro squares. For the last bit, I used a 'found' plastic cap ( I am always on the lookout for odd bits and pieces that look like they would work in or on a tank. My best finds are in parking lots walking in and out of hardware stores ) and mounted it as the missing Horn body. Weird that MATO addressed so much detail and spaced that. They did the same thing on their M4A1 as well. *chuckles* Pics:

Looking good Mr Painless love the cap trick.... I often do the same thing while at work in the field or on a site. So much "gold" to be had

Found a nice roll of scrap poly tubing today on a job and brought it home to run improved tubing for some of my tanks that run smokers actually just finished installing some tonight.

The Clark tk22 is a nice compact board and I've a few of them and like them. They sound very nice. In one of my king tigers (one of my favorites and oldest tanks) I have a Clark tk22 and a Clark amplifier with a visiaton speaker and that thing kicks

Out of the box the tk60 and tk24 have as good a sound as my KT without the external amplifier since its not needed. I think the tk60 has an even larger one built in. (Maxmekker can correct me on this)

The beauty of the tk24 is the small footprint (same as the tk22 or rx18)

The tk24 or tk60 are IMHO a better board as the sound files are incredible and the engine revving and neutral gears are very cool. Plus you get a second machine gun as you noted.

Mr. Carl, Good evening, Thank you very much for the info on the Clark MFUs. I'm going to do the initial run up of this TD with the TK-22 it came with just so I can check all of the electronics on the new Upper and get the barrel run out to it's resting position. I was already looking at the little paired MATO speakers and wondering how they will sound. I know how good Maxs Box and Speaker combos sound so I will think on that when I order the TK-24 for final installation in this metal beauty. I have the remote and instructions from Max on how to set up the MFU so we will see how much I will have to do to make the switch. Good find on the poly tubing! I have a TARR smoker that Terry sent along. I was considering it for this TD but with the power drain from moving all the metal, that smoker may go in the Elefant build to come.

You are spot on with the speakers. Those small oblong speakers will not give you the rich bass sound that will come from a larger speaker in an enclosure

Hi, very impressive, ,in fact so impressive I have ordered my own TD, it should be arriving with me thurs/fri,
that's is several months spends gone in one go (so I have been told)

Carl, I'll tap Max and see if any of his speakers come in boxes designed to fit the smaller confines of the MATO Lower. Ludwig, Congratulations on your new TD. Let us know how it runs when it arrives. Enjoy the anticipation awaiting its arrival. People either love or hate MATO all metal tanks. I'm in the 'Love' side of the opinion set. ( at least where it comes to these new Sherman variants )
