Strangely enough, my biggest gripe with HL/Darkith setup is the lack of a time delay between firing shots. So you can happily fire again and again without pause. Sure, only shots that fall within Darkiths time delay will be 'IR effective' but it really does look bad when an 88mm has the rate of fire of a 20mm autocannon! But I suppose nothing is perfect and for the price HL/Darkith combination wins hands down.
hmm mabe this is a glitch with running the darkith system with the rx-18

as i have the same system running with my rx-13 (s) (i have 2

) and i can only fire again when the system lets me after the time delay ? hmmm
thanks,
matt
Matt,
With the DBCRC2 , it will do this as far as I know there is nothing you can do. Maybe shoot D an email

hi blitz, personally ive never had this problem, mine works a treat and i cant fie until the IR system has let it, its Chris thats will fire constantly but only fire the IR every so seconds depending on the class,
thanks,
matt

We will shortly have another choice of RC system for our tanks. Clark Model renowned for there complete RC systems for 1:35 armour have announced the release of systems for 1:16 armour.

I've had this problem with the DBCRC2, but I managed to make it go away - I think its a sync issue with the TX

@Rivetcounter - Those Benedini units sound awesome! Is there any info in English on them anywhere, I can't figure out what I need to buy. The Stug on their site is amazing??
@Mat - If the motors are running the wrong way around eg up = reverse, then simply swap the wires over +/- on either each motor, or where they connect to the board. If the turret functions are the wrong way around then most tx's allow you to reverse the control using inbuilt functionality. I had to do this on some of mine. It isn't an Elmod fault, it's just the way that tx's are configured when they leave the factory.
@All - Tamiya's are great, but £ per £, it is perfectly feasible to build a very strong, Tamiya compatible HL tank for less than £150. Simply pick up a cheap HL tank with metal gearboxes, fit decent motors. metal tracks and sprockets, and a Darkith unit. Job done. I will take a video of my Bulldog sometime and you will see what I mean (and Tamiya don't do a Stug, T-34, or a Bulldog?).
@YHR - "I think if I were EL MOD right now I would be focusing in on the sound card and CSI battle system, with the intent of gettng them to work with the RX 18. With the new Heng Long boards, and 3:1 gear reduction I don't really see a need for the drive component of the EL MOD system anymore." ...Now that the RX18 is a reliable powerplant, there is little to be gained by using the Elmod Thinktank board, if the guys at Heng Long had any sense at all, they would be working on a decent sound system/Tamiya compatible battle system that could be produced at Chinese prices?
I would also say that if my Elmod kit worked reliably I would be over the moon with it. The theoretical performance of the latest Thinktank and the Soundblaster should put it head and shoulders over anything else, and what I have been able to achieve with the sound system impresses anyone who hears it. My only gripe is the melting esc's. It's always the same esc, and it has happened with the whole system running outside of the tank, with no load on the gearboxes, and using HL motors?

Hey Mart. Can you remember what you did to alter the sync and make the DBCRC2 behave?
Cheers

I should clarify that statement (too many beers last night

): The BDC and the HL board are the ones that get out of sync. The usual cause is turning the tank on before you turn on the Tx.
The blitz recommends turning the Tx on and off until they resync, but thats never worked for me. The only repeateable way I found was to shoot at the tank with another until the DBC 'dies' and resets the HL board. Low batteries in the tank can also cause some weird side effects.

Mart

Well Thomas came back and said that it was now the Protech 380 motors that were causing the problems, though he hadn't tested anything. These motors have been connected to an RX14 board and abused something rotten in an attempt to melt something, but nothing melted. They were so powerful that the tank would climb a wall if it had to, and even tore the shafts loose in the pinions!
As Thomas has offered me a refund on both boards I am going to take it, his suggestion that I try the Jamara 480 Pro's may have been perfectly valid, but after 6 months of buying and trying different motors and having the esc's melt each time, sending boards back, waiting weeks for them to be returned and then have the same thing happen again...for purely personal reasons, I am giving up.
I now have to look at alternatives?

this is weird as johnmar from aus had the same trouble a year ago with bigger motors killing the elmod and he spent 6 months with thomas sorting a fix for the boards i assumed this had happened
