I would usually call the extended track links Duckbills ....but some call them Growsers....so just for a change of pace
Anyway ...it's my understanding it wasn't common place to see them on Fireflys

Mmm... well with a longer barrel, that 'Pick n' mix' Sherman could well be a 1c Firefly... and here below we have the lightweight version of it, though it should be stressed that this secret squad of Tommies were volunteers from a place no one had heard of, called 'Krypton'; ate loads of spinach during the war, and were apparently phobic about strange, green, glowing minerals...

Looks like a ripe Lime giving birth to a bald headed- heavy metal fan...and not the tank type either. This, after an area 51 funded, and highly classified, cross-species experiment to produce a fully formed, and combat ready Limey.. (tanker, naturally!)

Taigen 76mm Sherman (metal edn.?) due for release q2 or q3 this year. It looks to me as if this could be adapted, without being sawn in half, to make a pretty good M4 1C firefly. The Turret and mantlet look about right; the suspension is fine..even the gun (with a wee bit of stimulation...or simulation) could get to 17-Pounder proportions.. Or would this be an expensive sacrificial lamb? This example is as naked as the day it was sawn...

LOL ....Nope that one is way off 43 ....It would make a nice FURY....but a Firefly...too many mods to do on it

Fret not 43.rumor is though...Mato Might come out with a Plastic version of a Firefly to take the place of the Sherman they discontinued

Oh well, I guess the Taigen could be painted in Brit colours. Correction: Brit COLOUR This putative Taigen 76mm model was actually of a type used by the Brits in Italy, unlike the M4A3..which was never used by them at all..anywhere. Thus, the 76mm would just about be a valid choice.The only available models from Taigen and Heng Long appear to be the M4A3 version, with a 105mm gun, and I'd rather attempt to solve the mystery of Donald Trump's hair, or watch 'The Sound of Music' 100 times, ( ) than have one of those. I thought the Taigen model only needed a few lumps here and there, some plates on the sides, and
the longer gun to pass muster.., but I bow to your greater experience Looks like I'll have to settle for.........wait for it.....a T34!! Sherman's were called 'Tommy Cookers, not 'Yank cookers'' by the Germans, so you think somebody would at least have produced a British liveried Sherman...albeit a charred looking, medium rare one...!! As for the 'Mato' rumour, well...rumours are often more exciting than the truth.

Well if you are going to do one ever....the HL is probably the best bet...actually the only viable candidate as all the other Brands have metal to deal with ...unless Mato does re introduce something in plastic again....I do hope the rumor is true...as I have seen evidence that it might be ...It may not be a full sized Firefly...but the shorter version like what Frankie showed

What adds to the rumor is ...there's quite a bit of skuttlebutt going on that Companies like Taigen and Mato need to re enter the "Plastic" side of RC tanking....as the customer base is demanding something they can modify ...It's nice Taigen is coming out with that E8 turreted version...The Mato would have been the candidate for the one you are showing as it had the correct hull
I'm no Shermanologist in any way....it's just I've learned from Members like Frankie and Sassgrunt ...Canned Heat as well...they are the true Gurus of the Machine...I built my two with a great deal of input from them ..along with hours of study on this site thrown in by another member CupOfTea

Yep, I've looked at the Shadock site..it's good, as is: http://www.theshermantank.com .. but there are better ways of getting headaches sometimes, eh? I write and record music, for example..and that that can deliver the prince, nay the emperor of headaches . Never quite understood why the Yanks failed to see the advantages of the Firefly, though.. they were happy enough to receive our jet engine, radar, and the all-flying tailplane (Bell X2..) Silly billies


Ah, I sit corrected..the Yanks did have them, but only for decorative purposes!

Germans must have liked them

probably didn't leak as much as their tanks...and were probably more reliable too
