I think it was me who showed you the metal lower hull. At that time, I haven't got the plastic Leo2 yet. Now I'm moving slowly, slowly to that goal by having an RTR plastic Leo2. It's fun time so we enjoy it slowly. No need to own everything at once. I have relationship with some Chinese guys that's why I always seek things from taobao.com. The guy buy products and ship to me through his company, and I send money to him also through his company. So shipping and money transfer are free for me.

I will try locking the clutches when have time. By the way, I also cut half of the rear mud covers. These covers get stuck with rocks when you run over one. I tried to hinge them to make them movable but I don't have that skill.

Nothing wrong with going slow...Especially if you are having fun with your tank as is....I do the same thing all the time ...I'm not one to jump into modding the tank right away....I like to just run it for awhile ...It's kind of fun that way...and if anything goes wrong or breaks off...it can be remedied when you do mod the tank ...so nothing but a win win situation IMO And it does seem to have paid off...trimming those covers came because you did play with it...just like the real deal...tankers will mod or suggest a mod when they run a tank in real life...so what you have done could very well have been done in the field

Here is another video of the Pantiger in the grass field. The Pantiger has metal tracks, drive sprockets and idlers. It also has Taigen 4:1 metal gearboxes but still Heng Long 2.4Ghz electric. Note between 1:40 and 1:50, the Pantiger gets over a small slope that I created easily. My plastic Leo2 didn't have enough traction to get over it. The Pantiger has a total weight of 3.7kg that it easily push down "trees" to make its way forward though at the end of the video, the right sprocket got its screw loosen and died.

I can't get over your play area there Steel B.....I think it's great...Do you ever notice how the toy tank will mimic things the same way certain obstacles would affect a real tank....people think tanks are unstoppable...for the most part they are...but yet there are things that can still stop one
Is this the same PanTiger that gave you some problems?....Seems to be running fine...Thanks for sharing the video...I really enjoyed watching it ramble through the rough stuff

Both of my Heng Long 2.4Ghz have the same behavior as yours. My solution is stop the tank then turn. In such case the inside track will not move so you'll have a sharp turn.

By the way, my Pantiger has 4.1 metal gearboxes and metal tracks. The problem now is the idlers are not in straight lines anymore due to poor plastic hull. I am waiting the track tensioners' arrival. So idlers installed on track tensioner would solve the problem.

Yes, Alpha. it's the very Pantiger that gives endless of problems. Now I'm expecting the first batch of the components that I order from China will arrive within one week. They are metal road wheels and suspension arms. I have no problem with plastic road wheels but plastic suspension arms seem to have problem and need to be replaced. What I am awaiting the most is the track tensioner. My purpose is not to tension the tracks but for bracing the idlers. Then comes the new metal idlers with bearing. I will also get a set of bearing for my existing idlers. The slip rings and turret rings are also on the list. However I still can't get rid of the name "Pantiger Driver" yet due the Tiger1 hulls not yet arrived and the mighty CS-TK16 control board will also be late.

I love the video of Hull Bracing. Is that DIY or off the shelf product? However, I think the track tensioner will have similar effect.

It's a custom fabrication. Just need a drill and a dremmel. My Pershing hull was bowing in the center causing the track to curve. I had to brace the whole thing.

That's some great hull bracing going on there ! I did some bracing on my Taigen Tiger and was also very happy with the results. I can push as hard as I can but there is no give. As with yours there is no flexing at all and the hull is solid. I'm sure this does make a difference when going over rough terrain and stuff ! Here's a few pics of my little brutes hull

OK, I understand the way you guy brace your tanks. As mine is still solid, only the idler holders are a bit spoiled. So I will need to strengthen the idlers with track tensioner. I will have my hull bracing someday if needed.

Good for you Steel B.....Don't want to step on anyone's toes....but I agree with you on the bracing....a lot of times they aren't really necessary for HLs...I find the aluminum bucketed tanks flex more than the old HL molds...those are pretty strong and durable....Have had a couple drop from 6 ft onto a hardwood floor with more decorative things break off than any damage to the Hull...the one thing the plastic is prone to do is warp from heat or outside temp....Here is not so bad...I have only had problems with the M1 where the plastic is a tad thinner and the hull much longer than WWII tanks...Your LEO might start having problems after awhile ...but you plan to change it to that metal hull...so the problem is already solved
On your PanTiger...yeah wait for those tensioners to arrive....remounting will compensate for any warpage that may have occurred
