Re: Oshkosh 6x6 truck build

Someone else PM'd me with exactly the same question for exactly the same reason! lol.
I have seen these running through water, so a DUKW should be possible. There is a power take off that would take a propeller shaft, so it would solve that problem without any bother.
To be doubly safe you can always fit an Mtroniks Rock esc. as they are waterproof.
Front hub centre to rear hub centre is 440mm, outside edge of tyres is 240mm. Standard 1.9" hubs fit so getting scale truck wheels that look a bit more authentic shouldn't be a problem.
To change the length of the chassis you simply either make your own rails or buy them, they sell all the bits seperately.

As regards the printer, it doesn't say where the assembly instructions are, or what electronics are used. I would be wary. It also looks like it is a plywood frame and threaded studs holding the rails in alignment. Getting all of that 100% square may be a challenge.
If they are non standard electronics, eg not an Arduino Mega 2560 with a Ramps 1.4 board, then you will be left high and dry when it comes to sorting out configuration problems (which I guarantee you will have). The Reprap printers are the best to go for, the ones on the forums as they have plenty of helpful users/designers who will be able to solve any problem that you may come across. You will always be able to get spares as well. You can pretty much assume that the vital components, eg board, and extruder, are Chinese knock off's of branded components, and that although they may look similar they may not last long or give quality output.
You can keep the price down by getting a PLA printer that doesn't need a heated bed. The one on Ebay isn't in a closed cabinet, which is what ABS really needs to keep the heat/smell in. Without it you could suffer warping. I very much doubt that the jet engine on the print bed was created using that printer, that is a bit of artistic licence, it was probably done on one costing £25k. lol.
