Dads Army was based around the British Home Guard of WW2(Nowhere near as professional as the National Guard!!) the force composed retired servicemen,men excused military service, those too young for service and the elderly, upon this was built a flimsy although much loved very English comedy Tv show, it ran for years and repeats are still being shown, I would try at the insistance of my family to sit through an episode of this lunacy and came away thinking why did I waste 15 years service defending my country when all it needed was 1/2 dozen men of limited intelligence who lacked discipline but had the ability to overcome an enemy even more stupid than they were. I realise that a number of British members of the Forum will disagree with my opinion.

Funnily enough I've just been watching an episode - it is a timeless classic and I still enjoy it.

Good Evening,
I wish that my rank on the forum was blank as well at times. I've posted a lot, hopefully useful stuff like builds and tips and greetings. No way that I could appear as anything else but chatty tho' if a rank was all that was used as a measure.

I think that offering an increase in rank to say thank you for going to the trouble of offering (HOPEFULLY) useful comment and tips to other members of the Forum is probably the least contentious way of doing it.

I tend to agree WO2c... all boards have ranks in some form... some here are higher in rank on other boards... I know one for sure is a Field marshal on another board and only carries a Staff Sarge rank here
...so really ... I don't pay much attention to it...don't really think anyone else should either....but it does make for fun conversation
