I'm speaking of current flow...not draw...Lipo current flows faster than carbon based batteries... it's the compound and how it "transmits" the power...a mosfet isn't needed with other batteries...because the way they Transmit the power is more consistent...Lipos are a tad bit on the unstable side... which can cause surges

I don't use mosfets .... mostly because when they burn ... they cost more than an RX

What a load of tut. I'm pretty sure your just trolling now.

Good Morning,
Lets not do this again, folks. I still miss Paul\Scalawag here on the forum and Alpha is a friend as well. You have all seen how he has put himself out for me and other members here with actual, physical help and advice. Tom, I value your skills on those amazing builds you do as they are a never ending source of good ideas. The point I am trying to make is that we all contribute in our own ways. For whatever reason that we allow anger to appear on this forum, it only diminishes us all. This Forum and the builds that we share here have been one of the few bright points for me this year. If there are personality issues ( and there always will be, I know, because we are all people ) work them out in private between yourselves and present a unified face out here so we can go forward in enjoyment of a shared Hobby.
warm regards to all,
Painless

Sorry if I come across as harsh, but I think if you don't know what your talking about then you shouldn't come across with such strong opinions. It does have a negative impact on experienced modellers but the newer folks could be lead down a path that isn't advantageous to them.

Everyone's entitled to their options but we have a responsibility to give good advice.

Hi guys, I his wanted to address a few things that have been said in this thread, to be honest I was not going to,I had considered leaving the forum but I think its better if I try and work with you guys. Now I know I have not been a member on here long but I have seen a few times now where people have been accused of bullying etc simply for saying some one is wrong. Now I appreciate all you guys input alot of you have more knowledge than me but I think challenging people should not lead to those bullying accusations.
Now lets address alphas point, I took abit of time to check my facts and research what he was saying and he is both right and wrong in what he has said dependent on which hobby your applying it to. Now as I understand it airsoft guns do benefit from using mosfets when running lipo's as the high discharge rate they are capable of ruins the mechanical trigger switch and can benefit trigger response/ rate of fire as the mosfets regulates the voltage. Now apply this to tanks or other rc, my own for instance runs an IBU2 which has mosfets in it as does the rx18 these are in essence electronic speed controllers, they regulate the current supplied to the electronics motors etc and prevent them being fired by to much current, so the issue of more concern is voltage in most rc models, anyway I hope this comes across in the way i intended, am not getting at anyone you guys have all been great to me, peace out dudes!

Spongehoobtank82, I didn’t know you were using the IBU2. This has under and over voltage monitoring and protection as well current monitoring and smart protection as well as a trusty fast blow fuse. So your be fine with the LiPo battery.
