Hi, I'm not sure about painting the inside of your PzIV hatches 'off white'.
All the pics I have show the inside of the hatches painted the same colour as the tanks original base coat.

ie: If your pzIV 's base coat is panzer grey, then the insides of your hatches would be panzer grey.

I think they mostly would be the same colour as the original exterior colour but I have seen pictures and film of grey panzers with light colour interior doors. I think one of the movie sequences I remember is Rommel's tanks just after they disembarked in Tripoli. They are still grey but you can see the turret doors are white (or a very light colour at least) on the inside.

I could be just my flaky memory of course but I'll have a look to see if I can find any reference material.

Cheers
Chris  ;D

Quick Flick through my archives and I've found these. Probably the exception that proves the rule though.

Hi Guys I seem to remember this debate on RCU what colour the hatches on the inside are early war tanks were factory painted grey and the inside of the tank was a cream colour for extra light when hatches were closed .
So as you can see from the photos that Chris as posted some tanks do have hatches painted light colours ,I think its fair to say that most of the tanks in the war were Battlefield modded during the war with differant camo patterns as the seasons changed and when this happened you can bet that the inside of the hatches were painted by the crew ,so really the inside of the hatches could be any colour they had cream grey green brown yellow so .
If you want to be totaly accurate you would have to colect loads of photos of the type your doing and then find the one with the most photos of it and try to copy it wether the hatches are cream or any other colour would depend on the photos you have .
My self when Im painting the outside More often than not forget to paint the hatches on the inside so I have to brush paint them later with what ever colour I think will match the pattern around the hatch .
