Hello all, I am new to this hobby but this subject is timely for me. I am interested in upgrading my HL Panther (1/16) electronics, including the board and the controller. Is this a good combo? "Taigen 2.4G Transmitter Control Upgrade 1:16 Scale RC Tank, item #221284613873" on ebay. Or would this one be better? "Advanced 2.4 GHz Digital Remote Control Transmitter Speaker and Receiver Unit by "Imex"#....?" cant find a number, but copy-paste it in Amazon and this will come up. I haven't been able to find any specs on these, not even a model number. The people selling them usually don't know anything about them. I have been all over the internet trying to figure out what "goes" with what, or what "needs" what to work with each other.
So, do any of you know of a manual I could download, or any source of info. so the grandsons and myself can figure this stuff out? After reading in this forum, I think this is great, although I would be picking your brain continuously for the first month.
My most pressing project for now is to replace the electronics in the panther, I burnt it all up by hooking the battery up backwards. I have since marked the connector with a big Sharpy pen.
Thanks for any help on this subject, Freddy
PS The other thing that is kind of pressing is the HL Tiger 1 we bought, new, advertised it had forward and fast forward. 2 speeds. It doesn't do any thing but go fast, which is not good to run into things at a fast speed. We want to crawl over stuff. Any ideas?

Re: Disassembling HL King Tiger
Back at last. Life kicked in big time and today is the first day since i've been able to do something for myself again.
Back to business:
Alpha, good you said it about NOT using the engine oil, i almost had a can set up for it. I'll set some vegetable oil aside for this, wrote down your instructions for later use
I've spend the entire day working over the Mato systems into the HL tank, what a pain in the arse! (if i may say so)
The Mato boards are temper proofed or something, all the wires are terribly sorted in both collour and position. Reds and Blacks don't do what you'd expect them to do. Almost fried it on my first attempt, luckily i saw that the red, black and purple were NOT what I expected them to do, almost put reverse power on it.....
So, been soldering all day, and just had it for a spin. It works except the gun! Woooo......then a problem appeared. A rather simple but devastating oversight. The Mato gearbox is flipped, left is right, right is left. You know what's comming now. The controls for forward and backwards work like a charm (it has controllable speeds now, progress!) but the bloody steering is off. Much censoring was needed when i realized what the problem was, keep it at that. But at least the gun works.....oh right.
The gun is being........a female dog.... the signal which fires the gun is, keep it at amazing. The outgoing power is enough to light up a led just barely, and the best part? It cuts the power when one tries to fire. The recoil still happens, so "it's firing" somewhere. I've yet to take a good look at this, but it's late and i'm frustrated, so not going to happen tonight.
I made a little test run through the back yard with the plastic tracks on, i noticed it's quite the lawnmower. I hope there are gearboxes with different gearsets, because this one is a little....too enthusiastic for a tank. Oh, and a metal one, of course.
And on your question of where i'm from, the Netherlands is where you can find me
Freddy, i guess, you should post that in a different section, but that's just my two cents.
*edit*
Terrible idea, but it's going to work. Tomorrow i'm going to peel apart the controller and swap the forward/backward controls around, that might solve the inverted controls rather easily. It's not the best idea, but hey, if it's stupid, but works, it ain't stupid....

Re: Disassembling HL King Tiger
lol fooks!
just swap the motors over in the gearbox's!
@ freddie it's a bit of a faux par to hijack someone else's post, you really should start your own but seeing as your new i guess you didn't know.
but i think you'll find the taigen 2.4 & the imex are one & the same
as for your tiger, i suspect it's an old board just like fook's here.
good luck men
