Today I got to do the preliminary painting on the Tiger. I also stripped down the parts I needed to upgrade the chasses, metal goodies. Not really striving for representing one particular historical event. Just doing what pleases me. However, I did take the advice from Painless and modified the damage to the turret bin. I simply modified it so it looked like it was passing through the sheetmetal and missed the hull.

The exit wound is by the rear hatch.
317 is my lucky number, I was born on St Patricks Day. My old football number was 51, which is a by product of 3x17. So, no particular historical correctness. Just good old fun with plastic, glue and paint.
Next up is to revamp the suspension and paint the new wheels for it. Then on to all the rest of the weather, filtering and chipping on the paint.
Thanks for the inspiration here.

Pale,
That is a work of art, my Friend. I love the Rommel Box. Someone was certainly peeved about what happened to his sausages and schnapps. ;o)
warm regards,
Painless

Thanks Painless. Yes, schnitzel and cheese melt inside the box.

The schnapps is inside the tank. Thus all the damage here and there.

I have a ways to go yet, but it is a little closer. I have been saving my funds from my band playing on the weekends. I am not sure what I am going to try next. I have been eyeing up your Sherman, and it does look fun and rewarding to have some more Allied Armor in the line up.

Pale,
Most excellent! I'm getting my arse handed to me by whatever the housemate brought home for Xmas but I feel up to sitting at my desk and fiddling with the turret tonight. I didn't get out to pick up the fibre optic I wanted so will try again tomorrow.
warm regards,
Painless

It is a shame that there are no local dealers for this RC tank stuff. I could have bought a another tank with all the money I have spent on shipping. I am sure you have suffered the same problem.

Hi Palepainter,
Like the paint job, just right in my view. Like the detail too, especially the open tool box on the back, a nice touch.

Thanks fellas. It was quite the time consuming project, that still is not finished. I would guess I have a bit of time left to get it done. Electronics and such are still ahead of me.

I managed to squeeze in a bit more time this past week. Most of it was updating the suspension with the metal components. The chassis I started with on this project with must have been an older one before they started to make improvements on the suspension. I busted off the old wheel axle mounts, then drilled them out so I could use the chassis off a newer model.
I cant believe how much of a difference this made to the stability and strength of the suspension. Now more wobble out of axis. I greased everything up nicely so it rolls smoothly.
Then I started to put the electrical back in. I took the best of the stuff available from the 3 Tigers. I had an RX18 to get it all started up until I decide and commit to an upgraded battle system. The only thing I do not have right now are IR goodies. The recoil is not hooked up due to it being servo activated. Can the servo be integrated into the HL system?
I got the lights working as well, as can be seen in photos.
