Just a short video showing off my ElMod/QX7 setup. Still a lot to learn about the new electronics but now I know how to assign switches to activate user sounds. It will drive better once my new gearbox shows up. And jarndice, you were right about that engine starter handle. It fell off in the grass and luckily I found it. Time to secure it so that it will swing freely.

Hooray! My new gearbox arrived today. This unit is very heavy and feels like a piece of precision machinery. I’ll get it installed as soon as possible and let you all know how much of an improvement it is.

Controlled thrust is right! This gearbox is amazing. I can hardly believe how smooth and quiet this is. It was super easy to install and it fit like a glove. It doesn’t come with instructions but DKLM’s website has an installation video. Easy wiring made this the simplest upgrade I’ve ever made.
Luckily I kept my old Heng Long metal tracks and drive sprockets because the Taigen sprockets don’t fit the output shafts. I knew this before I ordered. I’m a happy man now.
Here’s a pic taken during installation.

I will definitely post a video as soon as I can. By the way, I weighed the tank and it is 14.3 pounds (6.48kg).

Great day for me. I had time to use WiFi at work and downloaded a couple of .wav sound files to my laptop. An ME 109 flying by and a Mosquito flying overhead. Came home and was able to easily add these to my user sounds on my ElMod. Now I’m ready to start having some real fun.
Last night I assembled a Voyager photo etch bucket and added new exhaust units from East Coast Armory. I left the parts that I replaced in photo for comparison.
