HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Oh Gary, you have no idea of the effect that "Black Friday" has had on our shopping habits in the UK of the last few years, :lolno:
We really are as much involved in this willingness to spend money we don't have as you are. :{

Gary that is one great price for a super piece of kit, I am totally envious. My current printer is driving me nuts as I have had 3 aborted prints of that stupid tow bar, once it came loose from the print bed, and a further twice it has just done stupid things while printing. I am seriously thinking of upgrading to a CR10 but I suspect the financial damager would not appreciate it. She is off on one of her economising missions at the moment so I am keeping my head down and waiting for the dust to settle!

Anyway have lots of fun with the new toy and any questions just shout.

Alwyn :thumbup: :wave:

I think we have the internet to thank for the worldwide spread of Black Friday. Those advertising geeks will use any method possible to put us deeper into debt, eh? Buy this Transmitter or your schlong will fly off!! Not only that, if you do buy it this hot babe will want you!

Glad to hear I got a good deal. I really wish you luck in upgrading to the CR10, Alwyn. Having someone with your experience using the same machine would be a major bonus. Too bad you can't pop round and show me the ropes, but it's just too long a swim.

So I ordered a GAZ, and I'm really hoping we'll be able to get all the body parts separately eventually. The bed on the GAZ could be easily adapted to some really cool variants. I'm already seeing one with a canvas top over the bed, but with the sides rolled up. By the time we're finished here, fellas, there's gonna be a gazillion little trucks takin' over the world. @) @)

So here's where I'm at right now. Kinda at a stand still until the damned esc gets here. Once that's here and installed the rest will follow quite quickly. Until then I'm working on getting the camera mounted for FPV and the light bar sorted out. It's coming along nicely, as you can see for yourself ...

Once I'm up and running with the new 3D printer I'll be able to make "cargo packs", which will just be wooden crates to cover the electronics on the separate packages, like FPV and night lighting.

Still gotta find a good source for drivers.

There is a set of drivers available from Shapeways https://www.shapeways.com/product/PGXCH ... vers-set-1. Not cheap but they do look quite good in the picture.

Those look good but they're German. Maybe for the SS100, but the price might scare me off. That's a lot of coin for what you're getting. This guy might be adaptable if I can find him in 1/16 instead of 1/35

They're hard to find but I'll keep digging. I have one more half track guy but after that my trucks are driverless! :O :O

I wonder if I could print something?

I've spent some time hunting for driver figures in 1/16. They seem to be as common as the proverbial rocking horse excrement. ;D The Torro M16 half track comes with a couple of figures, but so far as I'm aware, they are not available separately.
