Not the Big Island, (which has the name Hawaii, like the whole state does). There are 9 islands, and Alpha and I live on Oahu, (where about 85% of the population is). If I say anything at all about the weather here, then people in the other 49 states will think I'm trying to rub it in. I just feel for all of you folks who are having to deal with these winter storms; but at least you can run your tanks in all kinds of seasons - about all we can do is have year-round beach landings.

Build me a shack on the back forty of your property and I will gladly retire there with all of my German Armor and attack through the Ardennes anytime you and Alpha feel like life is boring. *chuckles*

40th Day: Casting about on how to continue, I remembered the plank storage rack on the bow of most WWII Shermans and had the right size plastistruct to build one for mine. After some measuring, trimming and scraping the hull for the glue to firmly attach, I built the one illustrated on the linked site that Scalawag tuned us in to. The site has a restored, large hatch, late War M4A3 (105) built by Chrysler. The photos have proven very helpful. I got out the Electronics next and read through the paperwork. It's time to call it a night so I am looking forward to swapping those out tomorrow. Pictures:

This Sherman is really shaping up. Have you cleaned out all of the plastruct down at Hobby Town. Between you and I, they must be having hard time keeping up with stock.

41st Day: Got distracted from electronics tonight by the arrival of some ultra cool things in the post. Thank you, Sassgrunt. *bows* So tonight, I busied myself with building as best a periscope as I could out of the excellent Tamiya scopes that Sass had sent. Firstly, I measured the one lens I had and made a template using plastistruct. Tomorrow, I will visit Hobbytown and see if they have some clear sheeting I can cut some more lens out of for other US Armor I have that will need a periscope. Using some black attachment posts and a couple of the left over mantlet canvas cover clasps, I made up a fairly decent periscope for the Commander's hatch of this Sherman. A little paint and gloss and it will go great with the amazing Commander I received today. Pictures:

your panther was something but this old chap is something else ,this will be to me your rembrant /picaso ,the detail/accuracy is superb so far old chap, you put them together , I nock em together in comparison .........

My friend Painless.... I am never disappointed when entering this thread.... you always have something new ... and the build is being done with such focus ... unlike my confused methodology ...that commanders hatch scope looks very clean and undoubtably fit like a glove

which leaves me with only one question



who's going to get command of this one ?
