Having checked the fit of the lower hull mounting plate into the pair of deck mounted sockets that this 'tongue" shape pushes into, I changed my mind about how best to remove the gap between the glacis plate and the lower hull front.
A piece of 0.5mm plastic card was super-glued onto the underside of the "tongue" shaped part of hull mounting plate and it seemed to work - but the superglue did not bond the moulding and the plastic sheets together!
I scraped off all of the superglue residue left on the moulding and replaced it with some thin double sided adhesive tape and laid this onto a fresh piece of plastic card and pressed the two parts together before trimming the excess plastic card to shape.
The edge of the plastic card was bevelled to prevent it rolling back when being inserted into the top pair of receiving sockets and then the assembly was screwed back into the hull....and it worked!
I am not sure how long the double sided tape (DUCK brand) bond will stay firm, but for now it is working and would be easy to replace if it should fall off in the future.

Never too old to learn........
Amateur Build. Glacis Plate Fit Looking Better.
The gap between the glacis plate and the lower hull has now been reduced.
Using a thicker plastic sheet (or another layer of the 0.5mm sheet) could tighten it even more.
Some paint would make the modified fitting look better - after I have tidied it up a bit!

That is a very neat, simple solution.
You don’t get wiser as you get older. You just run out of stupid things to do.

Thanks Ian,
If HAYA can modify their mould to add +1mm to the underside of this lower mounting "tongue" it would fit a lot better and reduce the gap without needing any modifications to future models.......and maybe they could consider offering the modified part as an upgrade for those of us that have already bought one that has this gap?
Bob.

No snow here. Don’t know what all the fuss is about. Cold dry and sunny here.
