Re: Bristol Armoured Division

Post by wibblywobbly »

Just heard back from IPMS, it looks like we won't get a corner stand as traders get first shout on the wall space, if they can fit us in they will give us a larger battlefield. I have asked for ten passes, these will be allocated to those bringing battlefield scenery, bridges, buildings etc, on a priority basis. We don't have a membership fee as the time/expenditure on building the scenery covers that. Those travelling from up north will also get passes as they have donated scenery to the club, and have a 400 mile round trip to consider. Hopefully ten will be enough.

IPMS have at least, if not more interest, than last year, so it looks like it will be a show to the same high standard. It really is huge. I'm just glad I am not organising it, it must be a logistical nightmare getting all of the traders, clubs and displays sorted out. 8O

The names that I currently have are:

Me (Tree bases/Barn/Nebulwerfers/Ruins/Long Tom)
Andy S (Barn/Figures/Tree bases)
Tris (Dad)
Richard (Flak 88 emplacements/Humped terrain)
George plus at least 2 others (Bridge/Church)

If anyone else wishes to attend please let me know, and confirm the scenery that you will will be bringing. Eg If ten people turn up with scenery then they get a pass, the admission fee will apply to guests who wish to attend and run their tanks on the battlefield, either on the door to IPMS, or to club funds. Anyone wishing to attend in this capacity will need to let me know in advance.

Same rules apply as last year, volume at 50%, and a battle every hour on the hour, of around 15 minutes. IR tanks only in the battles, anything else can be run around the battlefield in between battles to keep the public entertained. No BB's allowed.

I think that covers everything, but if I have missed anything then just let me know.

Cheers

Rob

Odd request time. If anyone has a lump of sandstone superfluous to requirements that they could bring to the next meet it would be very useful to me. It does not need to be very large - maybe 10cm x 10cm. Just to reassure everyone, I have not lost the plot, at least not totally. It will become apparent in due course.

Sounds good - as long as it's sandy coloured.

You can have as much as you want, if I don't see you before the next meet, I'll bring some along.

I thought I probably qualified as a full BAD member now, so I have changed my avatar. The scenery is gradually coming along. While I was waiting for things to happen, I had a bit of a play and made this little vignette. The base should have been a bit bigger, but hopefully, it can find a home somewhere on the battlefield.

Is a vignette something that you put on fish and chips?

You are in the wrong job, that's all I can say, is there anything that you can't make?, more than happy to buy you a potters wheel and some clay, you can churn out artillery shells then as well! :D

Don't be fooled. I'm making this up as I go along. The only thing remotely like this before is an OO gauge churchyard. Bear in mind, I can't draw, can't paint and tank electronics are a complete mystery to me.
