Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
I think I'm going to be afraid of driving it through anything other than flat, dry, smooth ground...and SLOWLY, to boot!

*chuckles*
Good morning, sir. Your Tiger is built a little more solidly than that. Run it and have fun. You need to wear out the Tamiya stock tracks to justify metal ones from Impact one of these years. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
Pretty much over the creeping crud and feeling 'on' after work ( first time in over a week ) so I sat down to finish up the last of the fiddly bits on this tank. Almost three hours later, the smoke launcher wires have been fed into some brass conduit. The conduit has been cut and shaped to allow mounting to the turret roof and detail was added. The MG was asking online if I thought I could do that work again and I believe I can. Once I start on my early Tiger, I should be able to replicate the work done on Mike's. That is a little way into the future. For now, Pics:

"The Mate" as you so in-eloquently call her is actually asking with veiled pessimism when she is likely to have YOU back !!
Once Mr Sass has driven down your driveway (partially nude) clutching your/his freshly painted masterpiece, the long suffering Mrs Wolf can then communicate freely with actual words rather than glances at the shell of a man that remains after such an effort

Good morning,
*chuckles* Mr. Wolf and I have an agreement. ;o) I play the latest online game with them occasionally and they build the occasional model, a car or whatever interests them. It works out well. ;o) Gives my eyes a break and lets me spend 'awake' time away from work and tanks, with the Spouse. It's a great feeling, my Friend, to be approaching the terminus of this build. I have put a lot of extra effort into it for the best possible reasons.
regards,
Painless

And I continue to be very humbled by all of it. This Tiger is a masterpiece that I will cherish, (whether nude - as Herman says - or not). -Mike

As hard as Mr Painless has worked on this tank and the level of engineering and detail....I guess you could afford to go nude if you so choose to as Herman has stated
....hoping you choose the clothing option
It's an incredible piece of armour
But who could blame you if you did

I was thinking of an offer to chauffeur Mike to Mr Wolfs lair.........
But with this clothing optional talk, I may just draw him a map.

I'll find my way there on my own, thank you. I don't want there to be any confusion about which brother is going home with the Tiger.

Re: Tamiya Early Tiger 1 Static to RC Build
Herman Bix and the Nude Mikes. Sounds like something out of the 60's ( 1960's for all of the young folks ) Whew! At any rate, I painted the turret last night. A couple of coats of the excellent Tamiya Plastic\Metal primer followed by two coats of the Model Masters Desert Yellow. It's sat for 48 hours so tomorrow, I will plug everything in, close up the tank and do last detail and a pin wash. I finally broke down and will do the wash like the real Masters recommend, 50/50 mix of black oil paint and turpentine ( odorless ) After that, there will just be the Commander to do. I've got a couple of tricks up my sleeve for him as well. Pics:
