Slow but steady..............got the recoil/elevation secured and altered the attachment that joins the barrel to the mechanism.
Due to the tight tolerances, the only way to get the barrel into the correct position is to assemble all the hardware & mechanism in place, then slide the barrel into place with gel super glue inside the 'breach' to attach to the smaller tube that in turn is attached to the attachment.
Now in my determined state, I got everything in place, ready to go, and began the final insertion.

Now I know with Gel I have up to 30 seconds of manipulation before it locks.
Imagine my surprise & terror when it lock solid as soon as it touched :O :O :wtf: .............
Turns out I simply grabbed the normal glue rather than the Gel.......
8O :'( :'(
Damn barrel was sticking out proud of the recoil sleeve by 33%

That Gentlemen, was one of those $%$#@#*'n %$#@# moments that I am glad no other human was around to witness :-<

So today, I basically spent the entire day getting back to where I should have been yesterday.
Ended up having to dismantle the entire structure, and then heat the breach to break the glue bond.
Which melted the gadget that attaches the barrel pull tube to the mechanism, which meant I had to recover that, which meant I needed to go out for a drive & come back home for a very big cold glass of "get the 'F' over it"

Now folks, it is done, the barrel is in place, the recoil travel is free, the forward position of the barrel in its sleeve is right, the sun is lowering, Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' is playing, my daughters are happy that Daddy is not in a mood, and as my wife is out of the country for several more days, I have the History channel up loud, and life is very good :/ ;) ;)

Herman,
Nothing is more satisfying than difficulty overcome and the right results working! Great job of figuring it out and sorting the buggery.

Cheers mate, as dumb as it might seem, when I got home from my cool off drive, I had a shower & took a moment. Got dressed & decided to chuck on my "lucky undies"
Now there are some superstitions that a man follows but has not idea why, and these things seem to have the good luck streak(and the occasional other one !!!)
The AllBlacks have never lost a game if I've had them on, Ireland being the true test &I look what happened.
So. I'm putting the barrel disaster down to not taking that task as seriously as an All Black Test & the result was the same.
The repair and subsequent winning outcome for the barrel placement was aided by the same serious focus and the lucky charm.

By the way, it's early here & im not pissed-posting!!!!!

Hell, any reason that barrel is in the right place , I will take it no matter how tenuous the excuse

Herman, the gun barrel length on a Torro JT is 245mm from the shoulder to end.
Edit - you already have this dimension doh !

When is your ETF for the model ?

God an actual ETF !!.............. :problem:
Well, I know once I get the necessary cable & plug from HAYA that assuming it all works, I can get the rest done fairly quickly.
At this rate, I dont anticipate a closed & operating hull until at least Mid Feb.
Xmas is upon us, funds are tighter than a ducks ass(& that I remind you all is in fact water tight ) and this entire fiasco they call the festive season is not one I can fight :/
Still, looking forward to a gut full of prawns & other seafood(which is exactly why I cannot divert funds to the tank  )

No , but thanks mate for the offer. Its really the electronics that are the root cause of the hold up.
I cant carry on the detailing until the radio is in, the elevation works, and the recoil is sorted.
To do this I need the stuff from England.
Price I pay to have the new radio gear I spose !
I would have had the same problem with say an Elmod system..............no idea how to make it work, & until I did, would not be able to seal the hull halves & get on with detailing.

I may also have a rear engine hatch coming, with hinges, so its case of hurry up & wait.

I will get there......................sure as death, tax & gravity......................just hope its worth the effort once I do ;)
