Good Morning, Mr Chef!
Thank you Sir. Currently looking over the Upper Hull to see if I can add anything else before I prime and paint it. After that, Tool and Cable Fun Time! I have a set of metal cables with mounts so I will see how they match up with the HL mounting points on the Upper.
regards,
Painless

Good Evening all!
More progress has been made on cleaning up and painting the Upper Engine Deck and various tools and cables. Getting the main Cable set painted and installed is the last bit for that section of the KT. I should be able to move on to the Lower and the running gear afterwards.
regards,
Painless

Looking at the Engine Deck again today, I am not happy with one of HLs molded on pieces. Tools and Cables are looking better however, the Caps on the very rear of the deck next to the capped off Snorkel mounting spot should be two piece. One is obviously not as molded(where the HL Aerial would normally mount). I removed some of the details that were just installed and using files and a razor saw, set to work. Once finished with details remounted, the cap looked much more accurate. (To me anyway ;0) Those big metal tow cables are next.

Painless: your good photos suggest a few questions. 1) were some of the fire extinguishers green? 2) what's your formula for the bare metal tool parts (e.g. the shovel and sledge hammer)? (I have been frustrated by any make of gun metal paint and have tried a few mixes, but still not satisfied.) Thanks, Ed

Good Evening, Herr Dr. Professor,
The Fire Extinguishers (as far as I can tell) came in the Colors dictated by the manufacturers. Most Tank Crews just sprayed them the same color as their Tank. I like a little color on my Builds ( Red Axe has a Forum Tale behind it ;0) and do them in some thing Germanic like Dunkelgelb, Panzer Grau, Red, Rott Braun or Olive Grun. Like this one. ;0) Some Tools I will put a lot of effort into. These are basic. Hammer is Flat Black with Steel for the Striker Caps. The Shovel is Panzer Grau with the Tank Color used for the Strap and Holder. Handles are Model Masters Wood tone.
regards and thanks for looking In!

Thanks for your careful response, Painless.
"Hammer is Flat Black with Steel for the Striker Caps." Now why didn't I think of painting the striking ends a brighter steel color?
"Handles are Model Masters Wood tone": that's my favorite for wood handles. I generally brush a few layers of a variety of brown colors. When that's dry, I paint the Model Master wood. And when that's dry, scratch the tool handle gently with a small copper wire brush to create a wood effect.

Good Afternoon!
Thanks again, Gentlemen! An assist from my kameraden is always appreciated. Finished with the Upper Hull last night. Thinking about it, I am not sure if I will use an 'all metal' set of Tow cables again. The Mod that I have used in the past with the cut out center and cleaning rods from the Plastic set along with a basic set of flexible metal cables (ala Mike's Tiger1) seems to go together easier and looks just as good painted as the all metal Set. Something to think about. So, Time to get started on rebuilding the Lower Hull now with some metal road wheels and new springs and paint.
regards,
Painless
(Before I forget, I finally ordered a British Tank last night There were some good options available for WWII armor so it is past time for me to explore our Best Friends and Allies Equipment in the Field)

"Get Ready for Medicare," eh?

Isn't it comforting to get all that retirement encouragement?
