Post brought in the Fiber Optic piece from Welsh Dragon on Friday and the MATO replacement springs for the lower hull on Saturday. Today was finally quiet around the house so I put the time to good use. I wanted to revisit the deck and see if I could get the rear Convoy light cleaned up and working as well as correct the lower hull's tendency to 'sit down' in the rear and not rise back up when pressure was released. I did the suspension springs on the rear shock mounts first since they were clearly the issue. Of course, the replacement shock springs were much too large. I salvaged the fix by extending the stock spring a bit and putting the HD suspension springs on those two arms also. The Convoy light took the rest of the afternoon. I removed the light body and disassembled it to see if I could find out why it hadn't worked. It turned out that one of the wires was loose from the micro LED. I took the opportunity to clean up the housing and make a lens for the light by using clear double stick tape. The Glue Monkey had apparently been on loan to MATO as it took a while to free the replacement LED from the extra front tarn light without ruining it. The new LED was attached in the fixture by simply sticking it on the rear of the 'lens'. Reassembly, glue and paint saw the piece remounted and looking many times better than before. Solder and a two pin plug were followed by a successful test. When driven in reverse, there is a warm green and red light there. Worth every minute spent. Pictures:

Alpha,
Not quite there. ;o) If you need that extra Tarn light housing, send me a PM and I'll mail it out.

EdP,
Working on it! ;o)

Herman,
Breaking up the build process helps with organizing what has to be spent on what as well. ;o) I've sold a couple of things that I didn't want to rebuild and one that turned out to be not what I wanted, it's true. These extensive builds will hang around for a while with me, tho'. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Alpha, It will be in the mail on Thursday. Last night saw serious work on the casemate get underway. I redid the hatch brace on the Commander's hatch and _carefully_ removed the recoil and flash mechanism from the PzIII turret. I will need to do some scratch thinking to get the components remounted in the resin casemate but it looks like everything will fit. One extra task that popped up is to get the metal main gun barrel drilled out a bit to accept the flash unit from the original metal barrel. I have a friend with a drill press and should see that work done this coming weekend. Pics:

P.S. Duh. The 'warning light' is the Emitter. ;o)
