painting/weathering panzer Grey.
Re: painting/weathering panzer Grey.
if its a bit thick then thin it with white spirits or screen-wash but check if its the acrylic water based or the enamel oil based type, one third varnish to two thirds thinners should be OK.
use a brush and take the varnish from the bottom of the tin then thin it down as stated above.....................cheers oz.

Re: painting/weathering panzer Grey.
Oz,ITS enamel based, thin with minerial sprites only.I had to rewrite this post, sorry bad glasses and small writting.Pulled out the magnifier glass and although it does not specify it must be enamel because of the thinning guide.I tested on the rear flaps and it covered well, nice and even. After it dried the colors looked great, all is well.Sax

Re: painting/weathering panzer Grey.
Thinned out the varnish, applied several thin coats and what a difference.will post more pics soon, the devil is in the details.Added some pictures, they are out of order. The first is the best for showing the effect of the RONSEAL MATT VARNISH,The matt coat applied in several lite coatings allowed to dry was the most time consuming but the difference is plain to see,it is hard to see in the photo but the appearance is like steel, very supple and great shadowing effect around the detail,I did not dry brush yet.Not sure if it's really needed since detail parts were painted separately then reattached.I'm happy with the result, hope everyone is too.I just don't like the way it looks in the photos, can;t seem to show how well the greys look after the matt coat Sax editted this post, hand described this tank as 9th-reg. which is incorrect,it's 13company tank S-13,THE 1/6 scale tank I'm building may be a 9th-company tank after Grossdeutschland was expanded to a full armored division, and the 13th-company tanks become the 9th.sorry for the mix-up.My tank is modeled after one of the original 9-TIGERS given to Grossdeutschlands tank battalion, and were designated the 13company.It does get confusing because this tanks were re-numbered several times in some cases.SAX

Re: painting/weathering panzer Grey.
now thats a tank its really starting to come together, once you get that first coat of ronseal on the colors just come to life and the whole thing takes on a new and different look.
if you are happy without the dry-brush then leave it off there are no hard and fast rules in modeling, you have done a great job mate a great GREAT job keep them pics comming...................cheers oz.

Re: painting/weathering panzer Grey.
Thanks OZ,working on the wheels tonight, the camera just does not do it justice. The first picture is the best color wise.Hope to have the tank up and running by these weekend.I have some brackets to build for fuel cans, not sure wear to mount? Also ammo crates, aireal.the Grossdeutschland decals, company.marker, and vehicle designation markers I am debating.Every Grossdeutschland vehicle type has these markings, even other tanks but nowhere do I find a TIGER from this division,or to be exact from 13th company.the first Tigers of Grossdeutschland that have these markers? But I would like your opinion on these matters,Thanks again I really am pleased,Blake

Steiner, what do you think I should do about the Grossdeutschland vehicle markers,I can print them, and I see them on every other vehicle, but not on the Tigers.I am talking about the white helmut w/black trim on the left, the vehicle type insignia on the right side.SAX
