Take it in your stride Herman, I'm sure you have easily solved conunudrums harder than this.
Looking forward to your next installment.

Well mate, that will be soon.
Jagdpanther renovation is all but done, so the deck will be cleared for the return of the Jagdtiger !

Well, Im trying to kick start the mojo on the Jagd again after a long break off it.
I have the radio now, and its time to get on with things.
Some time ago I took a chance on getting hold of a Taigen Tiger 1 mantlet & recoil system.
Now I get it that even if I get it working its not a clark recoil, but if I can, it will be a recoil system, using a standard board, and common parts................
Just got to work out how to secure the recoil platform to the casemete roof, and get the positioning correct so I can get enough elevation and just the right amount of depression.
Oh, and to secure the new mantlet and recoil sleeve to the elevation hardware
I'm determined not to use a 'you-beaut' arrangement when a 'how ya doin' set up will do near enough......

Hmm, well worth the investment to get the hardware, but I really should have put more into checking before I butchered the whole Tiger mantlet only to end up with the pivot ears.
To get this whopping barrel into my most underspec'd tank, I will have to mount the Taiger recoil/elevation unit, and mount the pivot ears to the barrel sleeve.
If I drill & tap 2 holes into the sleeve and use pan head cap screws to secure it, that should work.
I had to open them out to compensate for the massive diameter of the sleeve, and that meant trimming the equivalent off the pivot location bars that prevent side to side slop in the mounts.
Over all, the method will work, but to get it all finished its :
- remove the casemate front panel & slide it over the sleeve behind the mantlet.
- Secure the pivot ears to the sleeves making them tight, and the front screw is right in behind the mantlet.
- Place the lot back into the upper hull & secure all screw points
- Place the recoil/elevation unit and secure
- Then test all radio funcions (now I have not only a T90 set to adapt, but a taigen recoil system to integrate as well

)
- Then secure the two hull halves
- Then fit the running gear.............................
Should be ready in time for NEXT xmas

Sounds like a solid plan to me, and it'll be less work than it seems. The Taigen elevation/recoil unit is pretty solid and straightforward, so it shouldn't give you any dramas.
Having the heavy barrel yanked back by the spring might give you a neat recoil effect, though. Add a little real momentum to the gun's fire.

Is it done yet?

Jeez Mr Jack, nothin like a bit of pressure !!
Got the pivot sections sorted and secured. Marked the centre lines on each side & measured up the screw points.,
Drilled out 2.5mm tapping size for M3 pan head cap screws in 316 SS.
Gave the holes in the plastic a bit of slop so I can adjust them evenly in the mounts. That long barrel will quickly show up any misalignment

You know I tease. It's looking good so far, you've gone past mine that's for sure.
