I know what you mean about the detail Blake, but it will get painted eventually!
I finally got around to fixing the recoil, dropped in the replacement motor from Tankzone and everything is back to how it should be. I also found a source of replacement springs for the recoil, thought it might be an idea after the tip from Carnage, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 974wt_1175" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

jukebox--i posted under "re-paint of torro king tiger" and received a response from caddyshack that refered me to your post on "torro 1/16 kt build"--i have just bought a torro kt in three colour cami--the panzer is good but i hate the colour and want to re-paint--i want to remove the upper hull and turret to protect the electronics from the spray off the paint---your first picture shows exactly this--my question is how is the upper hull and turret secured to the lower hull--there are two screws at the front and also two at the back end in "deep holes"
???????---i do not want to take out screws unless i am sure of the resultant effect for obvious reasons--many thanks --best wishes---hue city

Hi maxmekker, yes I have had it running, moves well although the front left pair of road wheels catch on the drive sprocket occasionally. Not sure how much it cost altogether, around £480 for the upper and lower hull, metal tracks, gearboxes, road wheels, sprockets etc, then there are the electronics (Heng Long) and various detailing extras, I bought all the parts over last year before the complete tanks were released. I'll see what I can do about video, although tank building and activities have stopped for a little while because of work, in fact I was in Norway a couple of weeks ago in Kongsberg, jeez that was cold! I was supposed to be going to Karlstad in Sweden today but my flight was cancelled because of snow on the runway here, having another attempt tomorrow, a lot of travelling for my job over the next few months which is getting in the way of the tank building, still it pays for the bits needed!maxmekker wrote:wow, where did this build tread hide ? hello jukebox--many thanks for your response---it was excellant and precisely what i needed--"we have separation"---this kt came from kin of tz last week--it was "in the torro" section of the hl part of the tz site---the box was all marked "torro" so is the manual and there are "those annoying stickers" on the underside also marked torro--but the bottom plate is not metal and separation is achieved by the six screws as in your procedure--so as to whether it is hl or hl / waltersons or torro --- who knows--maybe it is a challenge for sherlock holmes to figure that out
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!---anyways it is good and will be better when i have "fixed it up"---i am retired these days but remember flying into norway many years ago and whole load of other places some of them were "really hairy" ---that made the money to pay for model tanks --model boats etc etc etc--it was fun at the time but now i am not so sure--- my thanks for your help --- good luck in your career---with best wishes---hue city

Re: Torro 1/16 King Tiger build
Finally had a bit of time to get the KT back on the bench, next job is to fit the Atak resin zimmerit to the lower glacis plate and the rear of the hull. The lower glacis piece is a good fit, can't say the same about the rear hull piece, but then it is designed to fit the Trumpeter kit! The Atak zimmerit is a good match for the moulded on zimmerit on the Torro upper hull, just looks like it'll need a bit of trimming and fiddling with. I used Zap Z-7 Debonder to soften the adhesive holding the various bits on the rear hull, still had to get a bit brutal with the metal bits to get them off though. I used epoxy resin adhesive to attached the zimmerit, that gives enough time for adjusting the position before it sets. Anyway, here's some pics.

And a few more pics. Still a bit of trimming and filling the gaps to be done once the adhesive has cured.
