Tamiya King Tiger in the UK - where to get it from?
Re: Tamiya King Tiger in the UK - where to get it from?
As I'm slowly starting to plan my build I have already decided I would get the radios from tankzone. Some of the upgrade parts however are not available there (listed but out of stock). I was wondering what's the next place I should be looking to buy them in (online store)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Aslo, since tankzone said that my KT kit is being sent directly from "far east" (Hong Kong?) I'm worried about the customs charge... They promise free shipping but don't mention a word about customs. I hope I'm not charged with that...

Re: Tamiya King Tiger in the UK - where to get it from?
Are you sure? Damn, they didn't say it was Hong Kong... just "far East"...
What about VAT? I'm worried...

Re: Tamiya King Tiger in the UK - where to get it from?
So, let me sum it up:
I live in the UK.
Tank Zone is based in the UK.
I paid them 100% of the price (£490).
I was told my kit will arrive to me straight from "far East depot".
Will I have to pay Customs & / or VAT???
PS. Before I'm accused of spamming... I cannot find my EDIT button anywhere...

Goods to this value imported into the UK from outside the EU are liable to Customs duty and VAT. Here is a link to the Revenue and Customs information on postal imports -mangaroca wrote:So, let me sum it up:

I would think that the price quoted is the price you pay (£490) was the price from a UK shop. If on arrival you are asked to pay any kind of duty or shipping cost, refuse and send it back The reason you bought from UK was to avoid all that.

Hi mangaroca,
The items that I have bought from Ebay, from Hong Kong,or the far east are usually marked as a 'Gift' on the customs declaration....or are VERY undervalued so as to avoid any Customs duty......I don't want to add to your worries but a Full Option Tamiya Kit comes in a Bloomin great big box....and no customs official will believe that it is only of small value.
I think that the maximum value of a 'Gift' to Customs is £40....which is totally mad...what can you buy a friend or a Nephew for £40 these days
IF...it gets caught up in customs they will send you a letter telling you how much extra is due to be paid...which is 4% duty plus VAT on THE TOTAL PRICE...including the SHIPPING AND the Customs charge !! Talk about robbery!
Luckily you paid for it with Paypal so you are completely protected there!! If a Customs letter arrives ,go to the shop and ask them to pay the bill or give you your money back.
You still have to find a Tamiya kit to build but at least you are not out of pocket !

I should think, or at least hope, that TZ will have your tank shipped VAT paid either as part of a regular shipment to them and send it on from their warehouse, or directly to you and stamped so that Mr. Customs will recognize it as part of a commercial transaction and already covered.mangaroca wrote:Will I have to pay Customs & / or VAT???
Back in the day, I used to send out models/kits and airsoft to clients of an old friend. As often as not, he would send me customs dockets with specific numbers relating to the transactions in question and explained that this was to prevent the customer paying VAT and Duty twice.
I would imagine that TZ know their stuff, as they are - I think - required to honour their POS price, uinless they argue that your agreement to have it shipped from overseas alters that....
Either way, Sparks and Dietrich have the right of it in the case of this thing going sour and not being shipped cosher, as to tax. Just refuse to accept delivery if they want excessive amounts of money and have a sharp word with Tank Zone.
