Got some more done over the weekend. After everything is good and dry I'll dusty the road wheels a little and add the decals. The model is tested with my 4 channel 2.4 setup and runs great, plus the flashing machine gun in the mantlet is cool (at the orange dot).

Thank you all for the kind words. Not that I will backyard fight this model, it has earned indoor shelf queen status and I carry it around everywhere I go to show it off, I like it so much. But I could fight it!

Well ... I suppose you could do another one - set up 'just for battle' - that way you get the best of both worlds .

Big wallet hit though ......

Turns out that back in early December, before I even had the kit, the built Leo was spoken for, so building anew might be a bit cheaper next time around. Not a collector, mostly a builder and I have my 3 favorite WWII Tamiya tank builds and that is enough, plus a room full of Tamiya tanks would attract the ire from my wife. Her house can not be my toy shop!

:D :D :D

John

PS The LED Emitter is in the mantlet box and the TBU receiver is lowered for the "Cold War" look.
But not a foe in sight to fight...

Leopard 1 A4 Build Part 2

Post by Pcomm1 »

An amazing rc warbird modeler over on another forum bought my first Leo:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_68094 ... ey_/tm.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This Leo 1A4 is a Daryl Turner Custom Designed Conversion for the hull and turret. I commissioned Daryl for this one off Project:

So I am just starting an improved lessons learned Tamiya Leo build with recoil and improved running gear etc:
• The project uses road wheel bearings and cap screws instead of the polycaps.
• Magnets to hold the turret together.
• More details next month!
