Re: ELMOD
My guess is that you have saved a .wav file but not in quite the correct format.
First of all double click on the file and see if it plays in your music player.
If it does then it contains a sound
The file is in the wrong format for Elmod.
Re-save the sound ensuring that the sound is .wav, and does not include the tags that some sound editing software adds to the file. DBpowerAmp will save the file without the tags.
If it doesn't then there is no sound in the file.
You need to recreate the file.
The correct format is
Uncompressed (PCM), 8-bit, 22kHz, mono.
If it is anything else, it will not be recognised by the Elmod system.

Re: ELMOD
That was the problem Rob! I have it all figured out now and the files all check out ok!
One more question and I will not bother you for at least 3 days. lol.
I have a spectrum dx5E radio here and it uses a basic on/off switch for channel 5. Elmod states that you need to use a slider, 3-way switch, or dial to use the sounds on the fifth channel. Is this correct? y radio will not work? hat's ok, but can you lead me in the right direction for a radio that will work? I would probably like to use a 6 channel.

Re: ELMOD
Glad you got it working ok, those that persevere succeed!
As for radio's, this is a very tricky one. I use a cheap 2.4, 4 ch. Why? Because it's cheap and it works.
There are very few 6+ ch tx's that will work with Elmod, not because there is anything peculier about Elmod, but because the switches on the tx have to be of a specific type. If you drop an email to Thomas, he probably knows of one or two, or failing that, the Panzerketten forum should reveal the answer.
It depends what you want the extra channels for. If it is for extra sounds, then consider merging sounds on the existing channels, which is what I do. As my Stug has no turret turn, I put battlefield sounds on the left/right on the left stick.
You can also add voices to the turret turn sounds, or battlefield sounds, you simply take the turret turn sound and merge an additional sound onto the end of it.
Thats how I do it anyway??

Re: ELMOD
ive got the futaba 2.4, 7c , this works with elmod , not the cheapest tx by far but a good reliable one, as stated one of the spare channels needs to be fully proportional ,eg a three way switch or turn dial

Re: ELMOD
Rob, you said you merge the sounds to the existing file. How do you do that? I am still trying to figur eout how to take a file in Audacity and break it into sections of 300 ms liek you stated . that's one part I am hung up on.

Re: ELMOD
Each sound is a .wav file.
You can load one sound into Audacity, and then load a second one in.
Then you cut the second sound by highlighting it and copying it.
Then you paste it onto the end, or the beginning, of the first sound.
Listen to the sound when the turret turns in this video, you will hear a turret motor turning the turret, and then random commander voices issuing commands.
This was done by adding a different commanders command to the end of each of the 6 turret rotation sounds.

Oh boy!!! You are awesome my friend. I would never have figured all this out without your help. I truly appreciate it. Seems like a lot to do, but once you get it down, it's not bad.
Any info on splitting files into 300 ms? The Audacity software confuses me a bit.

Here is the result of all I learned so far. this is a four channel radio. I am plannign to buy an 8 channel with model memory so I can have lots of fun. Thanks so much again, Rob. I owe you one brother.

Re: ELMOD
I am using Audacity v 1.2.6, so I am assuming that yours is the same.
To split a sound file into 200-300ms (roughly, it doesn't have to be that) segments:
Highlight the as much of the sound as you need for the clip by right clicking at the start and dragging the highlight across.
At the bottom of the screen it will tell you the length of the highlighted section in milliseconds.
Now let go of the mouse button.
Click on Edit, Split.
It will cut your highlighted section out of the original and create a new display containing your snip just below the original.
That's it, you can cut any sections you want out of a sound file to get rid of background noise, or to get just the part that you need.
Love the P3 by the way, looks like it has actually been through the forests of the Eastern Front. : )

Re: ELMOD
Thank you so much man. I have put alot of effor into learning this part of elmod. I really think if everyone understood just how much the system could do, it would become evn more popular. It truly has everything you could want in a system.
Thanks for the kind words also. I enjoyed researching and building the tauchpanzer. It is a very unique tank and was designed for a specific use, that of course, it was never used for. lol.
