Just a thought on drive gearboxes. Impact gearboxes are very sturdy, but NOT well finished (poor machining on shafts and bores and gearteeth). HOWEVER, Impact gearbox speed WITH drop down gear and 11 tooth motor pinion is nearly scale speed for Tiger. Stock Tamiya gearboxes are too fast for scale speed, but fairly well made. WIth 3:1 reduction at pinion, Tamiya boxes are scale speed. I am sure you can manufacture your own gearboxes, so here are some ideas.
Please consider:
1) a nearly identical gear ratio to Impact boxes(WITH standard Impact drop down gear ratio included)
2) two quality bearings on the final driveshaft.
3) Better machining/finishing
4) bronze bushings on shafts as needed
5) NO plastic parts
Cheers
Hi, xrad.Thanks for topic 'gearboxes'.
Yes we realy take a lot of work on gearboxes. Our tiger I has a pair of new gearboxes that totally different form on-sale 1/16 tank. It's small but strong to drive this metal beast.
1 our gear ratio is 60:1,output more torque
2 two 688ZZÂ 8*16*5 bearings for drive shaft
3 You will see what we are making...
4 you mean bronze bushings on swing shafts?
5 full metal except Tires and Dust Covers used on bearing

Very nice!
However, From your video the tank speed is a little fast. Consider further gear reduction or at least consider offering a 'drop down' lower gear like impact.
Some factories make gears that turn on a shaft and some factories make gears that are pressed on a shaft and the shaft turns. If the shaft turns, consider bronze end bushings.
Thanks for reply!
Cheers.

If so are you spreading into making models.Try your best to make your Tiger 1 under the price of a Tamiya, contact Impact they make the best Tracks they also know about Tamiya battle systems here is there Web site

Maybe you could work together to bring us a full metal Tiger with Tamiya compatable battle system .This would be the best tank out there then.
regards pete
Thank you, Pete
We will think about it.
But we want to be a model manufacturer not a parts supplier. And a metal tank will be expensive than a plastic tank. Tamiya is a pioneer in this field. We will do our best to provide a new choice for you all.

Yes, 323# tiger I is a little faster. We think everyone using a propotional RC controller, can reduce speed himself.
The real tiger I has a speed range between 35`38km/H on-road, and my 323# is 2.30~2.85km/H differed because of battery pack.
Bat. Pack speed km/H
8.40 2.85
8.00 2.71
7.20 2.44
6.80 2.30
This can cover the speed range when voltage going down.
We can reduce speed by reducing RPM of a motor. The brushless motor we choose can output 100W max each. It has powerful torque to drive a 1/10 scale metal tank.

Nice! looks like you are covering all angles!
Do you plan to use Asiatam track links? or your own manufacture?(easy to replace)
Cheers

Not yet. We buy track links from a supplier in China. We test it on different road conditions. It's ok for this tiger I. Maybe Asiatam is another choice.
Here is our gearbox, hope you like it...

That gearbox looks serious. Very nice work. Can you tell us how much these tanks will be and when they are goingt o be available?

Nice finishing.
Consider manufacturing some things in common with other systems such as Tamiya or Impact. Gear teeth spacing on drive wheels so we can buy other tracks if needed. Driveshaft diameter/length/flat areas....
Although it is very nice to buy a 'one off' type of tank, I personally enjoy this hobby because I can buy from many vendors and almost all the parts fit together. This allows me to make several variations of the same tank.
Keep up the great work!

Hi Like the gearbox looks like it will handle plenty of torque,I have a question when they become avalable will they be in kit form or ready made?
It As been mentioned but we do like to modifie our tanks,Some like Early Tigers some like late Tigers,You might have to consider this when making after market parts to change from Early to late, also some of us battle them with Tamiya compatible systems, would it be posible to make the system you are fitting Tamiya compatible,or would we have to fit a new system such as El-mod.
regards pete

Thanks Pete.
We do a lot of work on compatible when designing or manufacturing... it is complex. We finally found that true to the orignal is a best way.
Our battle system is compatible with trumpet and tamiya. Most parts can be used in other brand tiger I tanks too.
Talking about Early/Middle/Late version, we have our plan to made them all. When we sold out Early, we will have Middle , then Late. But not in same time. All version will be rated. What is your suggestions?
We will keep it in mind--compatible.
