Re: Sturmgeschütz IV fix up
by the time they are painted they will look just like the steel return rollers

Re: Sturmgeschütz IV fix up
I just wanted to write that I've been very busy with other things for the last couple of months and that I plan on continuing the work on my StuG IV later this Fall / Winter - I guess most of you guys here in this forum know what married life is like
!
@Saxondog: I'm still thinking about what unit I want for my StuG IV. In a book I have at home about the Battle for Ostpreussen there is two colour drawings of StuG IV's, that I'm thinking about, but I'm not yet sure. Lets see...
Cheers, Jens

Re: Sturmgeschütz IV fix up
Long time ago...
I decided to take the easy way out and ordered late steel support rollers, Idlers and drive sprockets and a new tank commander's cupola (managed to break the old hatch...). Later on, when the economy permits, I'll buy El-Mod electronics and install in the StuG IV.
This build is gonna take alot longer than originally planned, but I hope to finish it some day.
I'll return with some pics of the newly ordered stuff.
Cheers, Jens

Re: StuG IV fix up - a long running project
So got the stuff: "late" drive sprockets, idlers and support rollers (among other things...) from rctank and asiatam.
But I have a problem and thought that one of you may be able to help me?
I can't remove the old wheels on the Heng Long support roller brackets, which needs to be done so that the "late" ones can be fitted.

Re: StuG IV fix up - a long running project
Thanks for your help! Now the lower chassie of the StuG IV finally has the "late" look that I've been after.
At the moment the tracks are one or two track links too long, but that is easy to correct.
The StuG IV has also recieved a new commanders cupola, since I managed to break the old hatch...

Re: StuG IV fix up - a long running project
Finally got the new Bosch headlight (originally made for the Tamiya PzKpfw IV Ausf. J, but since the StuG IV was a late-war assault gun, it just perfect for this StuG!), and this means that all of the outer details, except for bits and pieces that have fallen off during the re-build, are in place.
Now I can finally begin with the repainting phase!

Re: StuG IV fix up - a long running project
Fixed the tracks and the tension, now they hang more natural between the support rollers and don't slip off either.
From now on it will be a while before my next post, since the detail work will take some time.

Hi Jens excelent build mate Im watching this with intrest as I plan on making one to. On the HL Pz.IV tubs the drive sprocket needs raising and the rear return roller lowering , thats just for rivet counters tho he he . Your making an excelent job of this.
