Yeah I tried that at Luton on the sunday, didn't make much of a difference if any. The Blitz reported similar problems with some of his builds using those gear sets. Full power isn't the problem, its the time it takes to get there thats the issue.

I seem to recall from Thomas's postings on Panzerketten that they also changed a few other settings so that turns etc are more realistic, though Google translate didn't do very well I am afraid.

Here you go Rob:

"Tank Module
1.02 (26.09.2009)
- detection of the diagonal position of the left stick in 4-channel-mode has been improved.
- Spinturn detection has been improved. Spinturn is only possible if the tank stands idle.
- The base acceleration value has been raised for all tank configurations.
- Jumper positions for barell recoil has been changed.
Several new parameters added to the ThinkTank Configurator menu:
- the speed, direction and way limit for both servos may be set up freely.
- spin turn speed is freely adjustable.
- Chain squeal may be switched off and the motor voltage level at which the chains start to squeal is adjustable (requires Blaster firmware 1.07 or higher).
- the gun elevation speed is adjustable in seven levels.
- new menu structure for the ThinkTank Configurator"

MAGIC :D :D   got the el-mod up and running on the test panel with a T5 2.4Ghz radio (well I had to didn't I :{ ). Only thing I'm not sure of is the "connection for proportional radio" leads, do I use them?
I've been running through the different sounds and they're absolutely magic but an absolute must now is decent speakers. any thoughts?
watch this space :haha: :haha:

Hi Ross

I was pooping myself when wiring mine together as I know the cards arent the toughest pieces of kit. Once together the system is very impressive as you have found.
Dont play with the cards if you have clothing on that builds static as you will zap the cards and kill them.
Lay the cards on the static bags they were packed in while you are working on them as this helps too. I have a static wrist band I use when handling electronic cards. (Maplin £5 )
Just cos you have got away with it so far do not think that you will never have enough static in your body to kill the cards they are quite sensitive. If you dont have a wrist band, go into the kitchen and hold the taps as this will ground you and drain away static...if you walk back to the workshop over lots of carpet you are a card killer again!!!!
Make sure the cards are well fixed with double sided tape or similar.
Make sure none of the connecting leads are under tension or you will damage a connectors and make sure nothing metalic is able to touch the cards.

I used the speakers the ElMod suggest on their website. Which ever you choose, I would suggest you make use of whatever space you have in the hull and make the biggest speaker box possible. If you are limited for space then mount the speaker on its side on a baffle plate, this will in effect use the hull as a speaker box and give you better bass sounds than if you use a small box. keep the speaker as close as possible to the engine grille on the tank deck so you wont loose volume and trebble notes.

I hope this lot of waffle helps....now enjoy scaring the cat with loadsa volume

Good grief Mick, you would put the fear of God into errrr.... God? 8O

The cards aren't going vapourise, I have never used a static wrist band, earthed myself, or dangled myself out of the window by my ankles. :problem:

Even Elmod never used to use anti-static bags, just plain old polythene ones. I appreciate that negligible current, as little as that found in static, can theoretically fry a micro-circuit, but in my (limited) experience, it has never happened to me. I always fiddling about with my boards, handling them, soldering bits and pieces, plugging and unplugging connectors etc, and moving them around, and nothing has ever gone bang yet. Same goes for the Darkith board, which has to be assembled manually, I happily pick up the IC chip and plug it in with no ill effects.

Just so long as I don't rub myself down with party balloons, roll around on a nylon carpet, and stick my fingers in a mains socket, the boards seem pretty robust.

Hi Rob,

I must be ruddy unlucky cos I blew my first elmod board and had to send it back for repair. I must have been lucky with the antistatic bags that my cards were supplied in too.

I worked with pcb's for 15 years, and was always trained to use antistatic precautions so I do as second nature. You dont always blow the board completely, you can damage parts of a circuit and you only find out when you try and use a certain function of a circuit or chip. If folks like you and I pick up a board, I bet you pick it up by the edges. Watch someone who is not as wary, and they pick up a board a little less careful.

It always pays to be careful with circuit boards cos it only takes a bit of static to do damage. Even if the odds of damage are very small it pays to protect your investment. Static is measured in thousands of volts and minute amounts of current but it still hurts and makes your hair stand on end....even my little bit.

I take your point though, and will swap my nylon panties for cotton ones and stop rubbing myself across the carpet....

Stew, where can I get the spring for the mod cos mine came unmodified?

Got it all up and running in the Matorro KT. The new KT sounds are magic :D

The only odd thing is that left/right slow turn works perfectly but full left/right goes in opposite direction :wtf:
Reversing the channel doesn't cure the problem cos it reverses all left/right moves.

Any ideas?
