Re: O’l Ugly Without Side Bins
You are absolutely right jarndice! Oh hell. I guess I need to add the center hull weld seam. Not sure how I’ll model that detail.

Re: O’l Ugly Without Side Bins
Yeah .I will try to add this as well .Looking at the rebuild from the Australian armor museum of their Tiger 1 there a two plates that make up the frontal section of the top of the hull. This is a latter tiger 1 as it is a steel wheel model. Would be interesting to know what production number this is but I could not find it. The Vimoutiers Tiger is a late steel wheel model as well and it has hardly any paint left on it so might be more obvious. I am betting this will have the two sections as well. Thanks as I would not have realized it was made of two sections. John.

Re: O’l Ugly Without Side Bins
John/Jimster, about that weldseam.
Just draw a line with a pencil in the middle of the upper hull, from front to rear.
Next cut a V shaped groove on that line.
Take some 1mm solder tin and glue it into the groove.
When dried up, make the weldmarks in the solder tin with a small screwdriver, or a knife, whatever suits you.
Done!

Time was Dave Byrden was a contributer to the Forum that was until someone teeded him off and I think he did a piece on the history of the Tiger 1s construction including the body,
He showed how over the years it evolved not only in its assembly but it's composition ie from exotic metals at the beginning to steel plate at the end.
If it has not been deleted then it should be there somewhere.

About that weldseam again, I believe only the very early models Tiger-1 had the 2 piece upper hull.
The "later" early models, the mid and late Tigers did not have that weldseam anymore, their upperhull was out of one piece.

It would be great for him to still participate. He could clear up a lot of the grey areas. Does any one have contact with him, His info is fantastic. Give you a example. The weld seam just discussed, As you know it runs forward to the ventilation cap. Had not noticed before but Tamiya has the cap off set slightly to one side. Did a Google search and one of his articles came up. This turns out to be correct.
