I had no idea about shapeways hitting the fan! I last bought some stuff off of them last october!

I too would be willing to pay for 3d printed parts etc on here, it would be a good idea to have a trusted pool of people who can do this. I'm just not tech savvy enough to own and produce items on a 3d printer myself.

Pretty sure the website is a Zombie at this point, I would not recommend placing an order as you have no idea who will buy your data at the inevitable liquidation sale...

They aren't getting any of my money at this point not knowing if they will deliver. You wouldn't even know for weeks as it used to take like 2 weeks to get parts from Shapeways anyway.

You can still view stuff on the website but I don't think you can buy anything. A lot of the site isn't working like the forums and messaging (I've got 80 unread messages but I can't read any).

I think they're keeping the front part of the site running for anyone who's thinking of taking over SW's.

Unfortunately I have always thought that Shapeways was a time-limited company as they were doomed to fail as the price of really good 3d printers was low, and the skills needed to use them can be learned from various online forums, meaning that with their high prices people were going to bite the bullet and buy their own printers. This combined with many sources of print files on the iternet meant that their customer base would be limited to only those with deep pockets or those wanting specialist materials.

Sad demise but I feel inevitable.

Good news guys, Shapeways is back (probably) ;) Today they sent emails to all users.
I am delighted to announce that Shapeways is coming home.

Two original co-founders along with the highly-skilled leadership team from our Eindhoven factory have stepped in to steward the company into its next chapter. After Shapeways Inc. filed for bankruptcy in June, we knew we had to resurrect the company and preserve the digital manufacturing engine we all helped to build - a combination of dedicated, skilled people, cutting-edge machinery and sophisticated software. Moving forward, our focus is on rebuilding Shapeways and leveraging our digital manufacturing engine for our customers’ success.

In this new chapter, Shapeways will enable its customers to bring small to medium volume production-grade parts & products to market quickly, and manage them effectively throughout their full lifecycle. We specialize in an array of 3D printing technologies - SLS, MJF and MJP - bringing exceptional quality and value to our customers.

We are passionate about bringing back a stable, financially sustainable Shapeways that delivers for you, our customers. We thank you for your continued support.

I am delighted to announce that Shapeways is coming home.

Two original co-founders along with the highly-skilled leadership team from our Eindhoven factory have stepped in to steward the company into its next chapter. After Shapeways Inc. filed for bankruptcy in July, we knew we had to resurrect the company and preserve the digital manufacturing engine we all helped to build - a combination of dedicated, skilled people, cutting-edge machinery and sophisticated software. Moving forward, our focus is on rebuilding Shapeways and leveraging our digital manufacturing engine for our customers’ success.

We regret to inform you that our marketplace cannot be revived as it previously existed, as all marketplace accounts and accompanying data were deleted in the bankruptcy. We still believe in the Shapeways Shops concept and are actively pursuing new ways to replace this service for the Shapeways community. This exploration will take time and we humbly ask for your patience on this journey. We are building a small group of former shop owners to be advisors and a sounding board during this exploration. If you would like to be an active contributor on our journey to define the best solution, please contact us at shopcouncil@shapeways.com.

In the meantime, you can upload your models and place orders using our Instant Quote. We are working hard to bring back our e-commerce integrations with Shopify and Etsy, allowing you to create your own shops, manage your products and get them fulfilled by Shapeways.

You can learn more about the new Shapeways in our press release, here. We have compiled a FAQ around the bankruptcy and loss of the marketplace here. And you can learn a bit more about me, the new leadership team, and our vision for Shapeways.

Over the years, we have been inspired by, and deeply grateful for, the community that grew up around the marketplace, and the marvel of creative products and businesses that grew out of it. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Stay tuned for additional announcements.

Warmly,

Marleen Vogelaar, CEO

Good but not in a good way. All the marketplace files have been deleted so any file that hadn't been backed up (or in my case all the files I cant get of my corrupted backup HD) are gone.

PS anyone waiting for parts from me sorry for the delay. This cold weather has screwed things up for me (my printers in an unheated garage) and with SW's gone I'm having to find other ways to fund my resin addiction.
