That is a fair bit from one of my favorite states of TEXAS!

It was at a museum in MN when I lived there. That museum closed to it got moved to Virginia. On a side note, we had a WW2 vet visit the museum on one occasion. After talking to him, he told us he was a crewman on a Dragon Wagon. When we told him we had a running Dragon Wagon in the tent, his eyes lit up. So we went out there and fired it up. In his 80s, he climbed up into the crew compartment and we gave him a ride in it. You should've seen his face riding around in that thing. He hadn't ridden in one since the war. I'm positive we made his day...

Oh I am sure you did and thank you for that! What a treat it must of been. All I have is Mike and his stories.

Not yet! This will be a normal speed build. I am watching the deadline carefully. I expect we'll get ramped up when you get back from your vacation.

Some here might have figured out that I enjoy the mechanical aspect of this hobby. Since these M26/M26A1 recovery vehicles have three winches...



Scaling up the 35th kit it looks like there will be plenty of room to hide an airsoft motor as a drive motor for the front mounted winch (where the steering box is located and covered with a curved guard). The soft bodied M26A1 has a bit more room in this area over the armored cab. The armored cab's armor was tapered in toward the bottom of the cab (the soft cab was vertical). Those two round things on the other side are the bottom of the air cleaners.

I should be able to build a scale looking winch and use a drive link (drive shaft/dog bone) to power it through the frame.



I am bound and determined to make the other two operate, but will have to wait and see until later in the build to see where and how the motors will be (based on room left over).

All metal winch drum this time. The brass rod is from an out door water faucet I replaced years ago. The dog bone provides a few degrees of angle and it will eventually get cut down and installed on the air soft motor. The drum ends are copper pipe that is cut open and flattened.

Eric we really should relegate you to Popsicle sticks and duct tape...
