I tired charging the old battery up tonight before posting on here. Just tried it.

It didn't sound right when it was switched on. But it did drive fwd a tiny bit and the turret moved. Then it just died. Does point to the battery.

Hoping the beeping and weird sounds it made was due to not enough power from battery.
Beeping

One other thing to be mindful about. Those Heng Long copied Tamiya style battery connectors can also be problematic. When the battery is connected up, sometimes the little metal connectors inside get pushed in, and don't make a proper connection, which gives a similar type of connection to a soldered dry joint, in other words, a piss poor connection.
Therefore, if it isn't happening now, be mindful when you connect the new battery.
And lastly while we wait for your new battery, I'm hoping that it won't be too long for the battery compartment. Sadly, larger amp hour batteries can be physically longer, wider and thicker.

Well, greetings, Sitchey: I see that you have received heaps of help already. That's a great thing about RCTW. I hope you will want to stay with us and try a tank or two (or three or four or more). The never ready-to-run tanks are w-a-a-y better than the older versions, especially for their electronics and new action features (e.g. smoking barrels, barrel recoil, much better speed control). Join the fun.

Ok new battery and charger arrived !!!

But battery is just 2mm too long 😪 it fits but is too tight on the cable end.

I tested the new battery. It all seemed to work OK for 10 secs, then it became very unresponsive. You would press any button and nothing. Then a delay and it would perform that move. Then after a whole nothing at all. You have to disconnect the battery to get it working OK. The tank was on as the headlight was on full not blinking.

When it was working
- No sound on start up
- But tracks moved
- Smoke machine was running OK
- Recoil fine
- But no machine gun or action on button G.

I can order a new smaller battery, but think might need some help on getting this back to some level of usability.

Here's my suggestion.

Contact Dave at Forgebear (https://www.forgebeartanks.com/contact.html). Explain which tank and which controller you have (or just send him the URL to this thread) and ask if he can sell you a newer controller that you can swap in without having to change any wiring connectors. You might also send him the dimensions of the battery and ask if he can come up with one that will fit better.
When you get the goodies, let us know and we can walk you through the swap-out. (I remember the first time I did a swap out. I was a scaredy-cat and took photos of each step of removal (good idea). It went so well I started swapping out more and more.
