I made a plate to cover the unwanted ERA mounting points on the glacis .
Hindsight being what it is I should have split the thing in half, but as it is I can always add segments onto it, or not, as necessary to get the right look.
It looks like an old style Space Invaders ship ...............
I might add some faux welded loops onto it to look like how the plate might have been lifted into position in the basement of a building in Aleppo or Daraya...........

There is a lot of scope to just free style the look on a Syrian War tank, battle weary and shambolic, such a great topic to do a build on.................

I’ve had a barrel smoke kit arrive today.
With that comes a mission to recover the 6.1s board out of my Zu Fuss Panther as a swap for the V7 board so I can run a servo recoil .
I rarely run my Panther so it can have an odd sound .
Nil stock of V7.1 boards down here and I’m certainly not going to import one just so my Panther can have a correct sound !
It’s real quiet sitting on its shelf, no need to panic!!

Im onto the turret now. There's loads of bits to go on it like the T90, but no where near as much as if I was using the ERA kit 8O
Opening the losenge-shaped turret was typically H/L easy, but getting the cupola off was also typical H/L bloody impossible
The ole glue monkey has stuck the commanders cupola in place something ferocious :/
I need to rotate the thing so that the M.G is facing forward, so out with the razor saw.
Got it off in one piece, and without losing any profile.
I also had to open up the void under the cupola so that now the thing is rotated around, I can still squeeze a T.C. in the gap.
The elevation unit is mounted directly to this, so it will need to be repaired to a degree.
All this to get the outer shape right so I can get the barrel smoke unit in place.
The barrel is another project on its own. I want to remove the thermal sleeve from it, but the way its made prevents that. I am going to need 10mm diameter material so I can fabricate a new one.

And now like a bad case of acne, the unwanted turret gets filled with putty to close the mounting penetrations for the superfluous ERA.
Wont be too bad once the over all cast texture is put over it.
There is much to be said for leaving things well enough alone.......................but not by me !!
I might still load up with wooden planks & concrete blocks & junk yet!!

Thanks Mr Aussie, so am I. ;)

Got the underused 6.1s board out of my Zu Fuss Panther and successfully swapped the V7.0 into it. Not an easy feat given the complications all over it :/
Now I get the servo option for recoil & still retain the T90 engine sound set

After changing sounds on the V7.0 into a Panther, it’s an ok sound of a Leo 2.
Still a V-series engine and all the other sound facets are good enough.
My Zu Fuss Panther is a rare runner due to all the irreplaceable appendages sticking out on it, so it can get away with a slightly period inaccurate sound set
Now the serious bit starts to get the hull running as it should, and with the servo control being available, that might assist in how the hell I get the barrel thermal sleeve gone & retain the basic barrel look.
10mm alloy tube(thats tooobe for you left hand drivers ;)! ) should give me the base diameter of the barrel, then I could use the fume extractor off the plastic outer cover from the H/L to get that bit looking right, but its the breach end I am trying to work out.

I'm sure I will get-er, just got to think it out.

Bix, it looks as if you have sawed the cupola off 90 degrees to the mounting, perhaps using a razor saw. That must have taken a steady hand and squinting eyes. 8O

yes Sir, it took a bit of steady perseverance to avoid a stray blade and keep a straight cut.
A minor detail, but cutting it for reorientation also means I can access the periscope blocks from under/inside rather than pissing around trying to get something in from the front.
I may deviate from the subject picture and omit the roof top MG as the trend was to 'donate' them to the supporting ground forces they worked with.
The exposure in urban areas was far too risky. Although the tank in my picture seems to be operating in a more rural area by the looks, so the MG might survive

I have no idea how or what material I’m going to make the new barrel out of, but I am committed to going it now !
I converted the BB unit to a recoil, fitted and test fired the barrel smoker system, and created a “ hole of adding” for the barrel smoker by removing an access plate from the rear deck and replacing it with a slightly bigger but suitable on from the rear lower hull of a Pantiger/Panther !
For the frequency and amount of filling it will need, this will be fine. I made a brass tube that was soldered to a plate that mates to the new “hole of adding” and once the hull is screwed back on, it will be joined with hose.
Next mission is to make a barrel without the thermal sleeve
