Right then, as no one has identified the original T34, here are a couple more shots. :-[

Well done that man!
And just to show everyone what a jolly good tank the T34 is, I found this video...

Thanks for the video link. I went to university in Albury and visit friends and relatives there a few times a year but I've never been to the army museum and had no idea they have a T34 there. Armour from the European theatre of WWII is very rare in Australia and I'll be checking this one out on my next trip.

Re: Elmod WSN T34/85 Build
Almost there. Waiting for my metal gears, plus I have yet to perfect the Elmod T34 sound files (complete with Russian crew voices). I figured that the IR 'crate' would fall off it was just resting on top of the turret, so I made some anchor points and cables and strapped it down. The rear tanks were a pain to attach and try as I might I couldn't find anything that was a perfect match for the retaining straps on the existing tanks, so I had to compromise. The stuff that I made the additional tanks out of seems paint resistant, but hopefully it will stick eventually!
I may forego the recoil as it takes the paint off the barrel, it is pretty naff anyway.

Re: Elmod WSN T34/85 Build
Thanks Steve, it has been a lot of work, but it is almost done. I can't wait for my gears!
Here's an interesting thing. I have been playing around with the sound files.
I had fitted the HL volume control and was using the WSN speaker...it was crap.
So I pulled the speaker box out of the Tiger (Visaton FR7S 8ohm) and plugged that in to the T34...it was very quiet and the sound quality wasn't brilliant.
So I pulled the Elmod volume control from the Tiger and plugged that in to the T34...it was 10 times better.
Hmmm...that Elmod volume control made all the difference.
So I plugged the 'crap' WSN speaker back in, but kept the Elmod volume control...and it was almost as good as the expensive speaker!
What makes all the difference is that high quality potentiometer, so I am off to Maplins again tomorrow and taking the Elmod one with me to get a matching one.
As to whether a high grade potentiometer would improve the standard HL sound is now something that I will test when I get the chance.

Re: Elmod WSN T34/85 Build
Interesting find Rob. When I had el-mod and a visatron, I found it had so much bass the speaker would fart if you put it up too loud. I've since out the Visatron in my Tamiya, and its improved the sound quality no end.
The T34 is really coming along well. She'll be defeating the fascists in no time! lol
Cheers,
Rik

Re: Elmod WSN T34/85 Build
A friend just took delivery of one of the Creeping Death units...it is huge and has 5 miles of cables and plugs on it. On top of that it is going in a Stug, probably the smallest tank on the market??
Bear in mind that it needs a 7.2v battery for the HL boards, it also needs 2 x 9.6v batteries for the amp, plus you have to fit an 8ohm 15w speaker or you will blow the CD amp...he has got his work cut out, and his Stug is going to weigh a ton.
Anyway, done a bit more while I am waiting for my gears.
I reassembled everything and was testing the tx plus the sounds, and then realised that the bottom of the recoil unit was hitting the tank internals and would not allow full barrel elevation. I had to take everything apart so that I could saw the bottom half off, then put it all back together...and it was still doing it.. so I had to strip it all again, and cut off everything except the part that supports the barrel.
The sound files are pretty impressive but took a lot of work. I will post a vid on You Tube when it is finally rolling.
