First trial build of the hull.... This site seems pretty dead, so I think I'll move over to RCU.

It's actually pretty active. Been watching your build on both sites. I'm interested to see how well your axle brakes will work in practice.

I need to source a drive coupler for the motor, and then we'll find out! I'm test printing the bogey swing arms and trying to get decent prints of the road wheels, idlers and sprockets right now - bearings will be the limiting factor shortly to test the whole thing, but I should know about the brakes as soon as I can find a drive coupler. Worst case I'm guessing is that I have to upsize the motor (if the stall torque of the diff is greater than the motor torque) or modify the friction surfaces but I don't doubt it will work.

I imagine that the scale(12th) and the super-technical content is limiting the input that most members here could have.
That does not mean "this site is pretty dead" it just means folks are watching & looking on in silence.
You do great work, there's no doubt, so the audience's response should not make any difference to that.

We have loads of builds here with tens of thousands of views................dead ?............. :lolno:

Sr. Spinnetti: actually I have been watching all along. Bix is right, you are doing some remarkably complex work in 1/12 scale, and I think it's interesting and unusual.

This is a very interesting project and I am looking forward to seeing the end product. Any update?

Got the suspension all done. Works amazingly well and fully scale operation. Each spring leaf is modeled to scale dimensions and camber and individually printed (all 64 of them). Spring packs pivot as scale too. Lucked out that it all worked on first try! Next up is getting some wire to start assembling the tracks and still some more experimentation on the final drive. I've got it geared a bit low, so need to modify. I got the steering brakes put together, but that needs some tuning - all the fits are a bit tight. I probably need to change the brake drums to something more frictive too but the basic concept is sound.
