I swore that should anyone who I considered a friend would never be thrown off of the Forum without my protestations being heard by all members.
If you like someone but will not come to their defence when they are being threatened they would not in my eyes be the kind of friend that I would acknowledge.
My hands are bleeding with aplauses.
I keep requesting Gary's back too. No matter what he said, we all have bad moments at some point. He kept giving free parts to everybody, and also giving the man's most preciated possesion: Time, his time filming those educative videos helping heaps of newcomers and veterans in the hobby.
I know if (or maybe when) I am kicked away from here, he would be one of those wanting me back.
The minimum we can do is to claim his back here. Yes, I know he is in RCU, but this forum is much better in every aspect.

So you are speaking up for him as a friend regardless if what 'crime' he is alleged to have committed. Fine. I'm sure I'd do the same for a friend of mine. Since the facts are not public l believe my earlier comment still stands. Given the facts, he may get my (worthless) support!

I balance the things in a neutral way.
At one side, I have seen sometimes he can be a bit more carefull with what he writes, but well, me too.
And at the other side I have seen he is giving free stuff to tons of people that needed help, and did heaps of videos teaching things to newcomers or veterans for free.
So if you ask me, it is well worth to have the grumpy guy with us. A guy who is always willing to help everybody for free is always a honor to have.
And as a personal side, he got my affect too.

At the time of the "Crime" the event was very public and available to everyone on the Forum who logged in at the time,
Then it was excised by the management,
I described the event as two overaged schoolboys in a playground scuffle and that was about the level of it and a warning to both persons was about the maximum award it deserved as both parties had some blame to bear which makes banning one person and doing nothing (Publicly) to the other is just wrong.
And as to my friendship, I proudly claim both people as my friend and would come to the defense of either or both whenever I thought it was warranted.

Thank you for your helpful information. I've experienced one of Maxx's spats in the past and yes, he has a short fuse, but yes again he makes useful contributions. In his defence, doesn't he live in Detroit (where they dislike cats?)?
Maybe a simple public apology sent from Maxx to and organised via yourself and a mod would resolve this problem and bring him back. I have no influence but it could do no harm. Anyway, l'll back out now as F1 qualifying has just started

The amount of drama that happens on this forum never ceases to amaze me. Its great that the mods take their jobs so seriously and keep us all safe from being offended but in the grand scheme of things does Gary really deserve a ban? Servus doesn't seem to think so. I get deeply upset every time Herman posts some rant about the All Blacks but you don't see me complaining and demanding a ban.
The place has few enough regular and valuable contributors like Gary as it is. Bring him back and move on.

Mr B_Man, why do you get deeply upset every time Herman posts a rant about his national team?
Understandably Mr Servus wouldn't want to feel partly to blame, especially as he is a new member, and he wouldn't want to feel he may get animosity towards him because of it.
Which brings us on to what went wrong, it wasn't just the one isolated incident, it was four incidents over three days. It appears that the forum members only caught the last of them.
And it isn't like this is the only time these type of things have happened. Maybe something should have been done back then, with warnings and suspensions. As for the nature of other indiscretions, it's not for us to state publicly what they are, we are not in the business of acting like we're running people down on a public forum.
The forum has rules, every member agrees to the terms and conditions when they join, what sort of place would this end up being if we gave everyone a free pass every time they did something wrong? I myself in the past have been on the wrong side of the team, I was told the error of my ways and got on with it, I never publicly made a show of it and showed disrespect towards team members. And since being a mod myself, I have pulled many members on various things, as have other team members, yet it has gone unnoticed. Although I have had a run in not that long ago that was public.
My apologies, it's bed time now, I'll be back.

Sorry, I probably should have put some sort of emoji after that comment to indicate it was a joke but I wrongly assumed that would be obvious. For those members who don't follow rugby union, my national team plays Herman's annually for a trophy called the Bledisloe Cup. The All Blacks have won the series every year since 2002 which has caused me deep emotional scars (also a joke, except for the bit about them winning every year which is sadly very, very serious).
