Paint and primer have arrived so it will be turning a rather fetching shade of green in the next couple of days.

Lower hull has now been sprayed with primer. Deck and wheels have been been sprayed green. 'Tis amazing how different it looks with the green paint. Pics to follow once lower hull and turret have gone green.

It's going green. Must be something it ate. Apologies for the bad joke.

Good Morning, Jonh!
I love the early War KV series of Tanks. The KV-2 is one of my all time favorites. Your tank is shaping up to be a Beauty! The Soviets put a lot of work and care into finishing these tanks to a high standard (All were pretty much built before the German invasion) so there were no cases of flame cut metal plates and ragged welds like on the T-34s built during the desperate days later in the War. I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress. I have one of the early style KV-2 Big barn Turret version tanks to build later on.
regards,
Painless

Hi PainlessWolf
There is just something about a KV2...... To me it seems to epitomise the Russian way of thinking at that time as well as being so ugly it is beautiful.
Next job is to do a little colour modulation. I think it needs some tonal variation in otherwise uniform green panels.
Cheers
Jonh

I have put this on hold for a while because my grandson wants me do some work on his Heng Long Abrams. So will resume when the Abrams is done.

A clear coat disaster and have had a temporary loss of heart for a while. Going to box up the KV2 and get back to it when I feel like repairing the paint job.
I have bought a Tamiya KV1 and will do that first.

I’m still debating my kv2. I can get the turret from mk modelbau but the question is do I go for the huge early type turret or the slightly smaller later type turret. Or just do both and have the early in winter colours and late in summer colours

Why not go for both? Treat yourself!
