My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
I am very impressed looking really good I have had a lot of items for my Stuart from monkey depot and I get the email letter updates do you think a conversion like this will work on a kettenkrad?
Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
Do you mean rc-ing the kettengrad? I think the traxxas revo differential would work great on the kett. It works great in my halftrack and steers great with just the front wheels. This is because in a turn the inside track can slow down and the outside speed up just like the rear end does in a standard rear wheel drive car. But just like the car if one track is in sloppy mud it will spin just like your car does when one wheel is on ice and the other on dry pavement for those that have been stuck you will know what i mean
Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
Really good job, very well built interior.did you also make the gun shield? The bench seats are great. How is the drive tracks holding up? And I was wondering about the road wheels, are they spring loaded,or some other type of system.Or are they straight axle.I have checked it out at the link you gave me,but right now I have my hands full with the 1/6 TIGER VI,but will want one of these for a command vehicle to go with the tiger.

Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
No the gun shield and rear mg mount are from Armorpax, as well as the front seats, my dash and radio are from Panzerwerke. The radio was pre painted but I have to paint the dash when I go to install itbut that will be after I decide to go with panzer grey or panzer yellow. As for the tracks I haven't run it very much just a few tests to see how it goes and steers. There is no suspension in the half track just through the hull metal axels. There are screws in the ends of the axels to keep the road wheels on. I'm going to make a hatch in the bottom of the hull at the rear to allow access to the rear idlers axel adjustment if needed. Since it will be underneath the halftrack it won't be visable.Saxondog wrote: Really good job, very well built interior.did you also make the gun shield? Thanks for the info, with the rigid suspension might be hard on the electronics.Go with grey as many of these vehicles were used on the eastern front prior to 1943,but hey it's your model. If you need decals you can print your own with the testers system,I really like your SDKFZ/250 and hope all goes well, keep posting as I am very interested in your work, great job.Sax

I have a friend who has RC ed a Kettenkrad but to be honest I don't think I an that good but I will keep watching your thread maybe someday I will
Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
The times I have run the halftrack there was little "bounce" as it went along the ground. And any vibration can be eliminated by using some foam under the receiver and esc

Update:
Progress continues with the 250... Here I have constructed the fuel filler spout and cap and guard. In the last 2 pics I have constructed the rear door latching mechanism and outside door handle. Next I will be constructing the medical box for the rear door

Re: My 1/6th SdKfz250 a WIP
Update:
Well I decided to tackle the side and front vision ports. After chizelling off the frames on the side ports I figured there must be an easier way. So on the front ones I used a thin razor saw and removed the vision port by cutting between the raised ridge and the main part of the port. I then sanded off the raised ridge that remained. I then shimmed the section I removed to take up the gap left from the razor saw then glued them back in flush with the surface. Here are pics of the vision ports. Now it's just a matter of some spot putty and sanding to remove the seams.
