Detail up of OVM fastening belt of Sherman tank
I used brass strips and brass wire to detail the OVM fastening belt of the Sherman tank. The belt in the photo is unpainted.

Good work! Those straps look fine! Have you ever scratch-built the mountings for the tow cable? I'd like to see ideas on how to do so.

Yes I also scratch built the mounting for the tow cable on this Sherman tank. The mounting metal fittings (made of brass band plate) on the front of the tank can be removed during maintenance (when removing the upper hull).

After that, I painted the OVM fastening band reddish brown.

Re: M4A3 Sherman detailing
Thank you! Those are exactly the kind of fasteners I need to make for a vintage Mato plastic Sherman I have. So one of these days, among more projects than I can count, I will get to that one. I have the metal cables ready to go.
Your stowage and tools are well done. The packs on the turret, for example, actually have a credible "field installed" mounting rail, as opposed to be just mysteriously fastened. The wooden tool handles could have a slight gloss to them (especially when new) because some handles were just sprayed or dipped in lacquer during production. Others were sprayed good ol' Olive Drab.

That is some great weathering.
Re: M4A3 Sherman detailing
Hey, i know this build is years old, but you did something to your HL Sherman i want(ed) to do myself, its the upped side armor.
I must have seen hundreds of images of WW2 Shermans, to see if the things i wanted were accurate for the HL m4a3 (t74 tracks with duckbills, side-racks (mudguards) and upped armor.
The thing is i couldnt find any pic of a sherman m4a3 large hatch late hull and or the late model turret the HL has, with upped armor, i think this is because of the late model these Shermans would have had wet-ammo storage.
Please dont get me wrong im not “dissing” your build or choices whatever, and i love how the extra armor looks, but id love to see a actual late ww2 Sherman that has them, so i can mod my HL Sherman in a similar way.

Re: M4A3 Sherman detailing
You are correct. The ammo on the "wet" Shermans was moved to the floor (in coolant surrounded compartments). So the added armor (appliqué) was on the earlier narrow hatch M4s with the ammo stored up high on the sponsons.
