There is a large control module inside, about the size of an old video casette. Probably customisable but TBH haven't got round to investigating it more fully yet. The gun fire noise is a fraction late IMHO but maybe its one of those 'sound travels more slowly than light' effects?
The recoil tank movement is due to a microswitch at the end the travel of the 'bolt' action firing process - so completely mechanical in timing as the gun fires. Minimal tinkering possible around timing then but I could just disconnect it esp as the tank will recoil backwards even with a broadside shot!
Overall not cheap and some issues but really its just there to be enjoyed, shown to inquisitive children when they visit, and simply to gaze at. There is something about these vehicles, esp in naked metal, that is simply beguiling.
