Mato m36 b1
Re: Mato m36 b1
It's a Tamiya speaker, it's now well sealed in its box so it'll be a bit of a guess, I would say about 3"
Re: Mato m36 b1
Actually I meant the speaker box
Looks to be 3.75 wide by 2 inches tall?

Re: Mato m36 b1
Well, I got mine a while back and mines a bit of a mixed bag. I got the RTR bare metal version (T74 tracks, no ducks) and overall I'm very glad I did. I like the Clarke board but just not the engine sounds so I'm planning on a Benedini TBS upgrade to fix that. The motors and gearboxes on my one are excellent. The servo elevation works well and is fairly discrete but the rotation unit (looks to me like a standard Taigen unit) is not great but works fine however, upon receipt I had to fix the rotation ring because the screws were poorly attached and the ring gears misaligned.
The radio and receiver are above the quality I expected although I wasn't bothered about this as I have lots of quality kit in this respect. The wiring, soldering, connections, loom are all between bad and terrible but this is not problem as a complete strip down and re-build is planned anyway.
Otherwise the fit and finish of the metal hull, turret, suspension, wheels, and bearings, is all very good and the detail for full metal tank is generally better than I expected and good quality. There are some exceptions: post research (i'm new to this tank in particular) there are a number of detail mistakes, although most are fairly easy to address. There is some excessive flashing and mold marks in places but these are easy to remedy - they do, though, make me pleased I decided to go with the bare metal and paint myself (although this is all a little subjective I think).
In my opinion Mato need to up their game a little regarding quality control but I am, overall, really very happy with my full metal Mato M36B1.

Hey folks, finally got the ibu configured
The battery was a bit in the flat side but I'll probably use a 3s to get closer to scale speed (the gearboxes are very low ratio).
Impressions are really good, the configuration works perfectly once you can get it connected (my mrs laptop is 64bit which I didn't realise when installing the virtual comm port software). Takes a little while to upload the individual sound files but Ivano is working on that. Being able to assign switches to the various functions is great and means no more messing about with channel mixing.
Sound is excellent, with my cut down Tamiya speaker really rubies nicely, transitions are seamless and the rev features nice.
Drive is vastly improved from the ibu2 much better crawl speed, turns better on grass too. .
The m36 seems to run nicely, gearboxes are smooth and all functions work fine. Only issue is the tracks are a little slack and I don't thing the idlers are adjustable.

Re: Mato m36 b1
Tom can you please post pics of the inside how you mounted the IBU? I'm wanting to do the same thing but am having difficulties figuring out how to package things.
Re: Mato m36 b1
It's just mounted on the hull floor, I have to grind a little off the bogie retainers for it and a battery (on its side) to fit.jackalope wrote:Tom can you please post pics of the inside how you mounted the IBU? I'll try and get some pictures later. But it's pretty much as the internal shots posted earlier.

Haven't even gotten mine yet but planning internals too! Looks like the battery can go across the back (?) which would free up floor space and also the side panels look like they can mount a lot of electronics or maybe even the battery?

Re: Mato m36 b1
Thanks for posting the video Tom, looks like a nice tank.
So I am a MAC user, no PC. Do you know if the software needed to obtain sound will work with a Mac? And I am speaking in particular about the IBU3 software. If that makes any sense?
