Been a while but I've managed a bit more. Changed the gun housing and manlet (still needs a bit of detail).

The HL manlet is too wide and too far forward so I cut it down and moved it back. This meant making another gun housing as the HL one ends at the manlet-

Still need to add some detail.

Nice work. I didn't even realize that was an HL error. :{

Can't wait to see the detail.

Finally found time to get some more of this done -
Lowered the rear idlers-

Made some ramps to raise the drive sprockets.-

Added bearings to the output shafts-

Made some parts that fit into the transmission covers and will hold the bearings and covers in place.

Image

Image

I noticed that the rim of the cover is worn which is worrying as I only ran the tank for a minute when I got it to make sure it worked (with the original plastic sprocket)

Image

Looking at it the sprocket sits on the rim-

Image

and is 2mm away from the drive shaft-
Image

I wonder if all PzIV’s are like this?
With metal sprockets the rim would soon get worn down and I’ll have a bad case of sprocket wobble so qut came the razor saw and I trimmed 3mm off-

Image

Now the sprocket will need spacing out with a washer or two to line up with the wheels (I’ll sort that out when I get it running).

Running gear done-

Now for the Zimmerite.

Looks great! Makes me wish I had waited for you to do a PzIV so that I could just buy your parts. It would have made my lifting the sprockets a lot easier.

BTW...my sprockets didn't rub the plastic like that. Looks like your shafts might have been just a little short.

Thanks.

Started on the Zimmerite. Printed out a few sheets to cover the large areas then I'll do the complicated bits with milliput

The shafts on the replacement metal gears are the same length as the nylon ones that came in the tank.
