Anybody have Taigen Metal Panther F or G?

Thank you, Michael. She looks just great. How well do you think she'll do as an IR battle tank? Will she hold up to the pounding or do you think it's too heavy for a good battle tank? I was thinking about using this as a platform for a tank made for Danville, but I keep hearing the best tanks there have plastic tracks and are rather light weight. I was thinking about an Asp or an IBU3 for the electronics. I doubt I'll make it to Danville before '17. Any thoughts?

Hey Max, don't know how I missed this......... Figure you are waiting to see the pics ! I am a sucker for metal tracks, sprockets and road wheels, so this is right up my alley. My old JagdPanther I sold to dgsselkirk was a pretty good battler, and it has the same excellent Taigen metal lower, which actually is not that heavy (more like a Tamiya metal hull) unless you put on metal road wheels.

Our club is also not as serious as Danville and I am not that hardcore myself so probably not a good measuring stick.........

What do you like about the Taigen recoil as opposed to others?

tao, I am on Clark mostly which does not allow any adjustment on the recoil time like IBUs. I have also never used a Tamiya recoil which I have seen and quite like as well. I personally preferred a different slower return speed (i.e. the barrel returning back to its normal after the recoil) and I think Taigen's unit simulates that better than Clark which has the same speed on the servo. I have also done the following mod as well but I think I should have keep the spring to slow down the return speed on the servo.......

Nice..I only have Taigen recoil and it is pretty slow on return! I slowed down my a tad more using a a few diodes
on the negative wire leading to the turret. Also have another where I have an adjustable pot there but diodes work fine.

Video I just posted to another thread about the stock smoker, but it also shows the metal turret with rollers. It is very stable, because I can tighten the cog ring screws quite a bit since the rollers are in place. So there is virtually no play between the turret and the cog ring whereas without the rollers, you will need some play so that the turret can actually rotate:

Thanks for video Michael. The turret is nice and smooth and the smoker seems to work better then their first offerings.
